There's not a more naive fanbase in the country than the one that resides in Happy Valley. It's hard to imagine reading this such that these guys are actually being serious.

None of this matters. In their warped idea of the world, all of that would somehow exonerate paterno, and in their sect, that's all that matters...above all else.

I have no idea what the portion of alums are over on BWI, but here is the amazing thing about their reasoning.

If the feds show that this was not just JoePed, Curley and Schultz keeping it quiet to protect the program/JoePed's legacy and that it was a multi-faceted conspiracy reaching up to the university President, Board of Trustees and Governor to protect 2nd Mile and poor, naive JoePa was just their scapegoat....

.....if all that is true, then their university is going to be destroyed. Civil liability will increase exponentially. Good luck hiring top faculty or keeping the ones that you do have. Student recruitment. Research funding. Fundraising. You might as well cut your losses and sell the campus to DeVry or Phoenix now.

They're willing to accept all of this if JoePed can somehow be exonerated and vindicated.
