Penn State Cult (Joe Knew)

jakenick06, I lived through Apartheid. The problem is that people within closed societies begin to perceive the world around them with a shared but warped lens. Penn State meant something decent to those folks and its exposure as something very sordid is a personal affront precisely because they identified so closely with Penn State. In time, they will see the situation in the light of day.

I'm not sure apartheid helps that notion. Took 100 years between Civil War and Apartheid to end... and many of those States still have Confederate-linked State Flags (including the state flagship University we just played)
Granted, Penn State isn't as bad an issue and the process may be faster... but I suspect a lot of these people will take it to their graves.

Hint: Apartheid did not happen in the U.S.

No, but Jim Crow did, which was essentially apartheid-lite. Still think kuji's underlying point was valid. Fuck the South.

Does anyone else feel this way?

I've been having the "what could have been" and "if only" thoughts watching Ohio State. Meyer was likely coming here until the scandal. Just imagine that if this whole thing never broke, that could've been Penn State out there last night. I know there are some here who dont like him, but the guy has only lost twice in three years there, with an undefeated season under his belt and playing for it all this year. Is anyone else tormented by knowing how close we could've been to being back to elite again?

Im not going to question Meyer being a great coach as the proof is in the numbers. However, if he is such a god and walks on water how is it that he needed two OT and shady officiating to beat Franklin and his epically undermanned team? Meyer would have struggled with the personnel we have right now and there is not a soul who can convince me otherwise. Besides, Meyer is a sleaze and the OSU program is all that is wrong with collegiate athletics. I want to win and win big as much as anyone, but not at the expense of our principles. Success with Honor means something to the real fans. Winning without integrity is not winning. Turning your back on this program because of on the field stuff is childish, but I would have no problem with anyone forsaking this program if we started tolerating bad behavior like Meyer did in Florida, having lax academic standards, and not having acceptable graduation rates. We have a young star of a head coach who is in the process of setting up a rock solid foundation for the future. Its going to be a long, hard road to get to the top again but staying the course and doing it the right way is going to make it that much sweeter when we finally do. Be strong.

Im not saying we become The U, but we could lighten up some and still be acceptable. Sometimes I think our lofty standards push away some kids that could've been real game-changers. Winning gets fans pumped and fills seats, not going 7-6 and losing to conference doormats. After the Sandusky scandal, people laugh at Success with Honor when its used.
Everyone thinks we're just as immoral as the rest, so might as well just go out and win, even if it means stepping into a little gray.

Jesus fucking Christ.

Someone link to this thread over there. I want these fucking pieces of shit over here. I want all of them. I want every one of those inbred cocksucking, idol worshipping child molesters here. I want a full invitation with a promise to not ban. I want a full Buckeye Planet beat down of every fucking one of them. If they refuse, I want a well planned old school Buckeye Planet board takeover. We used to do that shit for fun. Let's do it for a good cause and shut that cesspool down...

Calmer than you...

I can't believe there aren't any Pedsters on this site. The Pedsters can sniff out a negative comment or column about Joesus in a podunk weekly newspaper with five subscribers and flood the comment section or bombard to publication with e-mails, but they can't find this site?

Does anyone know how the cult explains away this in their 'Success with Honor' narrative (just kids that couldn't be ushered off to branch campuses fast enough!):

http://m.espn.go.com/general/story?storyId=3504915&src=desktop

Since 2002, 46 Penn State football players have faced 163 criminal charges, according to an ESPN analysis of Pennsylvania court records and reports. Twenty-seven players have been convicted of or have pleaded guilty to a combined 45 counts.

Or is it just totally ignored?

So the whole thing stems from the incompetent jerks who couldn't keep the whole thing covered up.
