Penn State Cult (Joe Knew)

I've been following this board for years, though I seldomly post. The general hilarity of this thread always made me happy when I'd come back and see that there are new posts to read, usually linking BWI. As always, they'd rarely disappoint and we're always good for some laughs.

It's only in the last 2 months, since I took a new job opportunity and moved to downtown Philadelphia, that my outlook has changed. Now that I am fully immersed in the mindset of dozens of PSU alumni that I interact with daily (professionally or on the street), I have come to the realization that this warped perception of reality is the norm. A lot of you believe that there are numerous trolls embedded in their boards. Sadly, I feel that more often than not....that is just the fucking mindset of the majority.

As a result, my cynicism in humanity as a whole grows each and everyday. Even people who I KNOW are smart, freethinking individuals who I believe to be completely rational, jump off the rails completely when that sick, motherless cocksucking enabler is brought up.

jakenick06, I lived through Apartheid. The problem is that people within closed societies begin to perceive the world around them with a shared but warped lens. Penn State meant something decent to those folks and its exposure as something very sordid is a personal affront precisely because they identified so closely with Penn State. In time, they will see the situation in the light of day.

I wouldn't bet on that. They don't have the mental capacity (via inbreeding mostly) to do so.....

Apples and oranges. You are comparing something as minor as apartheid to the true injustices that have been inflicted upon Joe, the Paterno family, the lettermen, the wins, the statue and the university.

You failed to mention how those 6 entities, and the injustices inflected upon them, directly impact the alumni and fans of Penn State, and somehow, also the fans of all other teams. As the flagship university of the entire country, any attack on Penn State is a direct assault on the rest of the country, and on football, itself. Why the NFL isn't helping to fund Penn State's fight against evil is beyond my puny understanding. Hopefully, someone at BWI can figure it out and explain it to me.
