Peach Bowl: #1 Georgia vs #4 tOSU, Sat 12/31 8 ET on ESPN

IMO I just believe you cannot give the back end of the defense a pass. They lost that game because of them. Not day and the final 30 seconds. Day swung to the tune of 41 points..that’s enough today and that was enough last night. Win or lose.

Oh don't let it get twisted. I am certainly not absolving the defense of anything here. They played their a**** off in the third quarter all to choke when it mattered. Defense needs a major talent infusion. I liked McCallister at the beginning of the year but he was so limited. As were most of the guys on the defensive side of the ball. Day choked at the end there though offensively.

As an aside. 51-45. 42-41. The college game is now about the offense. And I hate it. That's the best defense in the country we tore up last night. And the second best defense that got abused in the other game. I hate the feeling you get, that I got, the last couple drives that you just KNEW Georgia was getting in the endzone. Even good defense's, that we dont have, can't stop good or even average offenses anymore.

U right bout everything u stayed for sure. Bennet when it mattered did what he had to do. Man the cocky sob is a gamer. Talks smack but backs it up. Never folded. Proud of CJ and Bennet tbh. Great game

The best defense in the country, much like our Silver Bullets from 2007, were flawed.

Georgia's flaw is their secondary and pass rush beyond designed pressures. They do a good job of minimizing these flaws. tOSU showed last night what they can give up when you can exploit said short coming.

The Dawgs have a quality defense that has survived bad matchups. The best? I wouldn't say so.

I think after this last Michigan Game knowing CJ wouldn’t be here after this year both day and CJ had a long talk.lol. We gotta do whatever to win this game and that mean’s literally doing whatever to win. I mean Cap he was literally 1-2 reads and gon for 6-7 yards a pop..lol I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. Honestly this will do wonders next year whoever the QB is. I truly feel day will not be son gun shy on actually telling him QB take the yards of you see it.

I truly believe CJ’s stock was taking a bit of hit….is this kid a legit franchise QB, or a kid who is only going to be effective in perfect conditions and some version of Jared Goff (not a huge knock on Goff who is actually playing decent football right now).

I think last night proved when CJ used all of his assets he is by far the most complete QB in this draft. I think the debate of CJ or Bryce Young was put to bed. And you even had some analysts sliding Stroud to the #3 QB taken. That is over with his performance against UGA.

And for Day, I think it’s obvious he has liked protecting his QB against hits, especially in regular season. It’s more important to keep his signal caller healthy versus any short term benefit of exposing his QB to hits he seems are unnecessary.

Maybe I’m wrong, but I think the way the last two years have played out, he is going to find the right balance of executing his QB-centric offense with QB’s having more leniency to use their legs.

I think it’s pretty clear after last night CJ was always capable of taking the green grass in front of him…..it was coached into him to not take it…..

Minus the last run by CJ he didn't really take any big shots either. We need our QBs to run the ball like CJ did last night. Not designed runs but just scrambles to pick up first downs or keep us on schedule.

Last night was exactly what I wanted to see from Stroud all year. Exactly the tape to show a future OSU QB. Losing Harrison was devastating, and having a defense that gives up huge plays for fun was to much to overcome.

Just wanted to give the OSU medical team and coaching staff props this morning for taking MHJs helmet away. He was telling people he felt fine they said, but they didn’t “Tua” him and put him in further danger. That wouldn’t happen everywhere, especially with the one player we really needed most.
Not with Day..he’s not a Neanderthal..and he’s not going to throw his fit bit down and stomp it. He’s exactly the coach for this time, like it or not.

Nah both defenses got cooked last night. We put up 41 on a team that normally gives up 12.
Okay. You said, <quote>"I said it was probably targeting.

My only point is complaining about the refs again isn't right. Our defense gave up 42 points and that can't happen in these games."</quote>

Seems like you didn't understand my point. It seemed like you were using cognitive dissonance because football is a game of offense AND defense. With Marvin in the game, it would have been easier to get to 44 or 48 points.

Some Georgia fans were all but but Harrison didn't have a many catches in the 2nd half. Why do they think Egbuka and Fleming started going off. The adjusted to take away Marv and other guys got open. We missed JSN something fierce after Marv went down.

I'm moving on. I think we witnessed an upgrade in culture at OSU football that changed for the better, with more fire, urgency and confidence, over the past few weeks and I think it will carry over to next year. We get much of our D back. I saw DB's looking back for the ball in coverage and hopefully they can develop that more in time for next season. D-Line does need to improve but I think it will and we'll see a D that continues to evolve into more like the iron clad silver bullets we got used to years ago.

Cam Brown actually made a few huge plays after being much maligned the whole season.

They left it all out there and while we could have won would one more thing gone our way. That performance a week ago would have made most of us proud as hell.

It was a fantastic game last night with two elite teams. Ohio State showed that they are every bit as good as Georgia. We led most of the game and should have won it at the end. Even with some questionable calls by the refs along the way. We should be optimistic about next year. Though anything less than perfection is unacceptable to some in this fan base. I look forward to seeing guys like Styes, Stokes, Hancock, Burke and Johnson do in next years secondary.
GO BUCKS!

Who would you peg as the best? I don't think there's a dominant D this year

To blame the loss on those calls isn't right though.

Maybe we should learn to defend the vertical routes first before believing a targeting call reversal changed everything.
There’s a difference between blaming the loss on the calls and stating that they had a direct impact on the outcomes of the 2 games.

Of course there were other reasons that the Buckeyes fell short. However, those were major impact calls. We’re not talking a missed holding call here or there, of which there were more than a few last night. We’re talking calls that had direct point implications and momentum swings in very tight games.

Some of us on here recall the phantom TD scored by USCs White in the Rose Bowl before replay. Was that the whole reason the Buckeyes lost, no but to disregard the impact of it is, well I digress….
