Peach Bowl: #1 Georgia vs #4 tOSU, Sat 12/31 8 ET on ESPN

I feel I kind of have seen the 2022 team's ceiling with CJ at QB, and that ceiling is not high enough to beat UGA. So even though I'm excited for the Bucks to be in the playoffs, it is hard for me to get my hopes up without a new spark.

Do y'all think we have a Tua on the team between McCord/Brown to provide that spark 2017 Bama style, and does Ryan Day have the Saban in him to play one of the backup QBs over CJ to light a fire under the team?

1. agree
2. maybe
3. Fuck no

Our ceiling was Wisconsin.

That would be good enough to beat Georgia.

Alas that was months ago.

We didn’t play well in November which is usually a hallmark of good teams.
We still won’t have JSN and I have no idea who the healthy RB’s will be.

Are you talking about now in prep or during the game? Definitely doesn’t happen before the game. I highly doubt it during the game unless CJ goes out and pulls a Troy Smith flambé game against the Georgia defense. Coach Day hasn’t shown any inclination to allowing any other QB to play with the starters. But who knows, I’m still waiting for the Antonio Henton package.

CJ's ceiling is Utah last year. Aka Defense doesn't matter I will make perfect throws to beat you anyways.

I'm not sure we need that level of perfect to win as their D isn't as good as last year. But that level of perfect wins you a lot of football

The problem is that I don't know if Utah was an aberration, or a performance capable of repeating with some level of consistency. I agree though that we don't need that level of play to beat UGA, just somewhere in that ballpark will probably work. The good thing about JSN opting out is we know exactly who we are rolling with on offense, so we don't end up in some gray area of scheming around JSN. We have MH Jr, Egbuka, Fleming, Stover, and hopefully both Miyan and Hayden. I like that crew, it is one that can beat Georgia on a good night.

I'm sure the team knows exactly who is going to be available and are preparing. Does Eich, Stover or CJ have enough juice to light a fire under the team to get their best?

Stroud's numbers are down across the board this year

Look at his QBR vs some of the better pass defenses he faced this year

Defenses he faced Avg Passer rating against rank:
#2 Penn State
#3 tsun
#8 Iowa
#28 Maryland
#33 Rutgers
#35 Notre Dame

He was above average vs Iowa but held to his season average, or well below, against the rest. UGA is #9 this year in that same metric.

You tell me what looks like an outlier and what looks like a trend.

Interesting.
I think it also reaffirms one of my observations.
Our passing scheme isn’t getting guys open on consistent basis.
Despite Marv being one of the best on the planet, EE being damn good and Fleming having a breakout year.
Too many times we rely on a sublime pass and contested catch.
We got nil out of our RB’s in the pass game.
We got nil out of any WR but those mentioned above.
The Michigan game was exhibit A. CJ had all day to throw but apparently guys weren’t getting open.
Certainly not having JSN hurt.
But I don’t know if Day’s/Hartline passing scheme is stale, the lack of any threat of CJ to use his legs allows another defender to allocate to the passing game, the lack a true deep threat (No idea why Ballard never plays) shrinks the field, the total lack of a rotation wears the wr’s out and prevents crisp routes.
Something isn’t right.

I was worried that we didn’t have a “juicer” for the last two years..so if we have to bring someone in to manufacture it ..Olave or Wilson can’t yet. Who could get their attention , Nic Bosa, Terry McLauren?
