David Richard / Associated PressTitans punter A.J. Trapasso runs for a touchdown after faking a punt in the first quarter Sunday of the Hall of Fame game in Canton.
It was his first appearance ever in an NFL game -- and his first career punt attempt -- but Tennessee Titans rookie A.J. Trapasso sure didn't disappoint under the pressure.
The Titans, playing as the original Houston Oilers to commemorate the American Football League's 50th anniversary, beat the Buffalo Bills, 21-18, in Sunday's Hall of Fame Game, which kicked off the 2009 NFL preseason. On Saturday, Bills founder and owner Ralph Wilson Jr. and former defensive end Bruce Smith were inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, giving good reason for the Bills-dominated crowd at Fawcett Stadium in Canton.
But the Buffalo fans were hushed early on after Trapasso executed a planned hide-the-ball fake punt and ran 40 yards for a touchdown on the opening drive, giving the Titans a 7-0 lead.
"We played it tonight just to have fun," Titans head coach Jeff Fisher said. "It was designed; it was deception."

Probably better book your flight now, they aren't going to cut a veteran like Hentrich for a rookie barring an injury. A.J.'s best bet is to punt well and hopefully earn himself a chance with another team that is unsettled at the position.MililaniBuckeye;1513263; said:If Fisher cuts Trapasso, I'm flying to Tennessee myself to whack him upside the head with a 2x4...
Yeah, A.J. will be gone, but hopefully someone else will give him a chance.Buckeye Nut;1513720; said:Probably better book your flight now, they aren't going to cut a veteran like Hentrich for a rookie barring an injury. Fisher's reasoning was that they'll never use it in the regular season anyway because Craig Hentrich won't run that play. Understandably so since I don't see Hentrich as on of the more athletic punter's in the league, he probably would get himself killed.BuckeyeNation27;1513265; said:it really was.
again....why the hell did they waste that in a preseason game?

awesome. Is there much room to move that thing up? Or did Trapasso just force Jerry to remove his latest expedition in extravagance?dragurd;1520692; said:He just hit the bottom of Dallas's giant expensive scoreboard.
