Outdoor Grilling (official thread)

Had to go all the way to page 6 to find this thread again. Anyway, here's a quick one I've done for years. In the largest kettle you have, that will fit in the fridge:
Combine cut up fryers, and western style ribs, cover with 7UP, beer, soy sauce, chopped fresh garlic, bay leaves, and any other seasoning you think may be good. Marinate at last 24 hours, and grill it. Happy Memorial Day:)

The 7Up is a substitute for a little lemon.
Beer goes with everything!
I like cooking/grilling with a little hickory to add a little woody smoke flavor.
Mesquite? Eck! (Do Texans really like mesquite?) To greasy after tasting! Even beer won't help that!
And never order a mesquite grilled steak out! Never!

The 7Up also adds a lot of sugar to the party

I admit it, I am a lazy SOB and have a gas grill.
Now it is cleaned up for the season and we are in full grill mode.

Last night had some Delmonico's (1" thick) that were pretty good.

As far prep- olive oil, garlic salt and pepper are sufficient for this cut of meat.

For ribs/etc... Weilands has a great selection of rubs and sauces. I am partial to Cajohn's product line, but I am a little biased.

IMO, the only thing whole foods is good for is it's meat department. not too many places sell Prime. you pay out the ass, but its totally worth it every once in awhile.

Costco sells prime down here, but I usually go to Western Beef. They have all grades uncut. You pick out what you want and tell the butcher how thin/thick to cut it. Actually costs less doing it this way in the long run.

As always, slickdeals is the place to check for deals. Quick search there showed 40 lbs of charcoal for $8 at Home Depot. Lowes is selling two 16.6 lb bags for 7.50
