Outdoor Grilling (official thread)

I gotta brag about my baby-back ribs that I smoked to perfection yesterday. Homemade BBQ sauce that I wanted to bring to work today and drink for lunch. Can't wait for baby-backs to go back on sale so I can pick up some more. MMMMmmmmmm

Care to share the BBQ sauce recipe?

Just put my medium Big Green Egg together last weekend...and then dropped over $200 on a "nest" and grill cover today. Anyone ever used one of these things? Also going to try some "green" charcoal made out of coconut shells...anyone had any experience with those?

GUHH you're so lucky - Those things can hold a constant, low temp for DAYS (if you tend it properly).

I just hope you give it proper respect and let it barbecue some ribs for you (as opposed to just grilling in it).

Thanks...slow cooking is an art form I intend to master. This thing was a gift so I am totally new to this type of cooking.

I'm already reading up on things and it looks like natural lump charcoal is the way to go because of the low amount of ash it produces.

I'm lazy so I asked for one of these for Christmas two years ago.

It does a pretty good job as long as I keep throwing wood chips in it to keep the smoke up. Hell of a lot easier to use than the side by side charcoal smoker that that my parents neighbor has.

I've got one and it works great as long as the outside temp is high enough. I use hickory wood as mesquite tastes funny/fake to me.
I also like to grill all winter if I can.
