OSU Men's Basketball Recruiting/Projections/General Discussions

I agree with everything you say, but I try to keep the glass half full instead of half empty...

This year was a little different in terms of frosh as they weren't really superstar material, they are the 3 and 4 year material guys, that will help the program over time and not necessairly a whole lot in their first year...

I maybe on some good drugs, but I truly believe that Crater/Hill combo is going to be just fine for us...Maybe I am crazy, but I truly believe that with the options we are going to have on the wing that we will be just fine with those two manning the point, creating some and taking care of the ball, and not looking for them to score...
I did not say you were crazy that came directly from you:wink2:

And as long as Crater/Hill can handle and distribute I will be fine with them. I will worry about our rebounding if KK is not there but he wasn't really there that much on the boards this year.

I know, I just figured you guys would tell me that...I agree on Crater/Hill, I really think that Hill showed some in practice and in the games down the stretch to be getting some more minutes...

I think we might see a 25/15 minute rotation with those two next year...

As far as rebounding I think that with Mullens and Lauderdale being our big men we are going to be much better rebounding, and I think that if we have Wallace at the 4 some we will get rebounds from his as well...

The 2008 class is highly rated and will be counted on to fill the hole at the 5 spot and the pg position.....I think they will blend in with Lighty, Turner and Hill just fine.......I think Wallace will see more time next year and Lauderdale will play significant minutes.....if KK comes back next year, we will be a top 15 team.

I have two concerns regarding next year and the first one will be answered in a couple months. If KK does not come back, I think this will hurt us significantly on the offensive end. He and Mullens would make a very nice high/low alternative. If he does not come back, we will have to depend on our outside shooting and hopefully soon taking it to the basket. Diebler will have to regain his high school shooting stroke. My other big concern is relying on a freshman to play a lot of minutes at the PG position. I think until we know if Kosta comes back or not there is no way we can talk about Top 15.

I think Kosta needs to come back because he'd be able to play the true 4 position on both offense and defense. That should really help his game.

I also think it's obvious that his outside shooting is not near what it was cracked up to be. An extra year of lifting and shooting, as well as playing his true position could guarantee he's top five. Not to mention, next years draft class probably won't be as strong as this years is. Less one and dones next year IMO.

We have a few questions that need to be answered......we need solid point guard play and a inside scorer next year.....I personally think we will be fine, but it may take some time.

My point was with that unproven PGs and possibly some limits at the 4 position I can not see us being a Top 15 team in the country.

I don't think there is enough to start a thread on Terrell Holloway, point guard in the 2008 class recently released from his LOI he signed with Indiana, but he is listing Ohio State now along with , Virginia, Marquette, Oklahoma, USC, Kentucky and St. John's and has all five official visits remaining......might be something to watch...or not.

Dispatch

Terrell Holloway, a 6-foot guard from Cincinnati's Harmony Prep who is ranked No. 100 in the 2008 recruiting class by rivals.com, told the Web site that he has asked out of the letter of intent he had signed with Indiana in November.

Holloway had a clause in his letter that allowed him to opt out of his commitment if Indiana coach Kelvin Sampson left. Sampson accepted a buyout after recruiting violations came to light, and assistant Dan Dakich took over on an interim basis.

This was in the Dispatch a couple weeks ago in the Rumblings section and I forget to copy it with the link.

I would think that he might peak Matta's interest but did not know all the details on him as compared to Crater and how they might fit in together.

Can he shoot the 3? That's all I want to know. If he can, Matta should swoop in there and take him, because this team needs to improve its outside shooting, especially since we lose Butler.

On Koufos, the situation kind of reminds me of Cook last year. He needs another year of seasoning like the Olsen twins need a Big Mac. But can he make more money if he comes back? If the answer is no, and it very well may be, then he should come out.
