With the talent the conference has brought in the last few classes and into 08-09.....the league is going to be very tough......I like Ohio State, Michigan State and Purdue to be near the top the two years....
Why do you IU out? I know Sampson is a bad game coach but he is getting some good recruits.

I know IU will make some waves this year with Gordon but I am not sold on their ability to keep their players in state and I also think their inability to keep Eshaunte Jones is big. Can you name one other player in their 2007 class other than Gordon? I know they landed Devin Ebanks recently but I still see Sampson having issues recruiting against the likes of Matta and Izzo....not to mention Weber and now Painter who is making waves.

Without looking it up, I thought they had landed a pretty big JUCO PF or C.

I'm not saying that Sampson is a great to have problems recruiting in-state or in the Midwest but he seems to get guys from other areas of the Country. He did that while at Oklahoma... probably illegally :-)

His name is DeAndre Thomas and yes he is highly rated but I am the only one who finds it funny that Indiana is scouring the JUCO ranks for players instead of the top 100 every year? Just a thought.......

Moving this discussion to the recruiting thread....

Kenny Kadji, 6'-10" 250lbs, committed to the Gators today. From Camaroon via France, Kenny is a load, although new to basketball and English as his main language. If the boy grows a bit, he might be able to play center.

Sampson recruited quite a few jucos at jokelahoma and it seems like he used to go to them pretty regular for talent. I've actually been fairly impressed with his recruiting at Indiana. I figured he'd have trouble recruiting in this area but he's done pretty well. Not up with juggernauts of college hoops but certainly well enough to give Indiana the talent to make it out of the first weekend.

Kentucky has picked up two commits for the class of 2010...where is Joihn Decker's article about how that should raise concerns about what's going on in Lexington?

For anyone in the know,

Do you think that we are going to get another player in the '08 class?

It seems like we are going after a few players but it doesn't look like we are going to get them (it seems like we got in on them late following the Babbitt decommitt).

They are targeting some PFs in the 2008 class but it will be an uphill battle to gain another verbal at this stage, but anything is possible......check out the rest of this forum for the targets, they are listed.
I think that if we do not get a top PF in 2008 we would not take one in 2009 just because of who we will beginning in 2010 and who is available.

Saying that, I wouldn't mind seeing TM take two players in 2009 just
because it would balance out the classes a "little".

I would not even mind a 2008 JUCO PF but have no idea if one might be on the horizon.

I doubt it since he's committed, and player rankings are more about subscriptions than they are about legitimate rankings of basketball players. Everyone knows he's playing well. He's the top guard prospect in Indiana this year. That's good enough for me.
