OSU Men's Basketball Recruiting/Projections/General Discussions

As a pure PG, Noopy is better. As an overall PG, I like Lucious a little better (as does Rivals, PrepSpotlight, Izzo, etc. - Telep saw Lucious on a very bad night and dropped him) Oh yeah, Lucious outplayed him head-to-head at the Izzo shootout last year FWIW.

It is your opinion and you are entitled to it, but I do sense some sour grapes in your previous posts and that is my opinion.

He fits our system.....Matta knows talent when he sees it....

Nah, Noopy is nice, but he doesn't fit in with MSU anywhere.

IMO, and in the opinion of Scout and others, Noopy is the better player. I think Noopy has the better offer list, and IMO, offer list is ALWAYS the best way to rank players....

Like I said Telep might have a different opinion if he saw Lucious' first 5 games instead of his last one.

Offer lists are hard to evaluate when a player commits before he hits the national circuit or if he doesn't show mutual interest to schools.

I tend to defer to the guys at www.prepspotlight.com who do the most extensive evaluation of any scouts in the Midwest, and they like Lucious better.

Like I mentioned before, both schools got their #1 target.

nice try. izzo knew that crater exhibited very little interest in msu. after all, crater repeatedly stated that he wanted to leave the state.

Noopy visited East Lansing as a sophomore so both sides had some interest. Tez is right though, the Kalin Lucas commitment changed a lot of things. MSU offered Korie Lucious as a freshman but most figured he would go elsewhere with Lucas coming in.

Junkie- you are right about the drop. Rivals (Jerry Meyer) has a history of doing that. FWIW, nobody at Rivals has a vote for the McDonalds game. That should tell you something.

And some of you may think that Spartan fans are down on Crater because he is going to OSU...not the case with me. I've heard nothing but GREAT things about his character and attitude. Everyone says he is a great kid and a great teammate. Not sure if you guys are aware of the hype he was getting in Michigan...pretty unfair to the kid IMO, nothing he could do about it. He's still a good player, just not the "best guard ever from Flint"

I'm still trying to figure out why 3 Spartan fans all at the same time decided to enter the same recruit's thread in an attempt to validate Noopy's drop in the rankings. It comes off as sour grapes. If that's not the case, certainly I apologize. But it is a sudden addition to the BP to simply argue about one player.

bingo. where were these same posters when noopy was ranked at the top?

I posted with another username (I somehow forgot my password) and stated that MSU (and UM) wouldn't be a factor with Noopy. I used to post on the OSU scout site but this site gets more action. I also find the football information to be great over here.

I thought some of you would be interested in reading thoughts about Noopy from someone who has actually seen him play multiple times.

BTW, I have also seen William Buford and he is a stud. He will be ready to make an impact right away.

I thought I would chime in since I have seen him play. My first post was in response to someone comparing him to Mike Conley.

If you don't want to read an outsiders opinion, then just say so and I'll never post again.

Your first post:

Conley isn't a very good comparison for Noopy. Conley is at least a threat to score and can blow by his defender whenever he wants. Noopy isn't quick enough to get by a defender that is playing off him and he doesn't look to score very often.

His drop in the rankings isn't that surprising. He really didn't have a great high school season...not sure where you are getting that he was the state player of the year.

He has very good ball skills and great court vision...wouldn't surprise me to see him have a good career at OSU.

You made a recovery at the end, but how do you think a Buckeye message board is going to take a message like that from a new poster?

I'll agree that you're getting baited at this point, but you dug yourself a hole from the get-go.

Give it some time and avoid antagonistic posts until you're understood. Oh and also, I advise not complaining about other posters' reactions to your comments.

As for Noopy, I could care less about the rankings because I trust Matta knows what he is doing. I don't have the time nor energy to waste on panicking about ratings.

I see what your saying, my post does look more negative than I intended it to be. I apologize if people think I was trying to trash him. As I said earlier, I have heard nothing but positive things about him...he's the kind of kid you want in your program. I think I also said that dropping him out of the top 100 was too much.
