OSU Men's Basketball Recruiting/Projections/General Discussions

Just got home from work, couldn't respond.....I assume you directed your comments at me?

Rivals has been known to have a bias when it comes to Southern schools and California. I never said Rivals had a bone to pick with OSU, I said they have a bias problem....AKA....they have been known to look past or discredit northern schools in the past. Not just OSU, it's more about this region. On the other hand, Scout seems to evaluate talent much more evenly throughout the country and take into account the whole body of work.

I wasn't directing my comments at anyone in particular.

I am surprised, and very much so that Mullens is ranked higher than Buford.
Especially after the latest tourneys.

Don't be suprised Mullens is that good...

As for scout's list I believe that it is much better...I would have Mullens in the top 5, I like where they have Buford, Crater, and think Babbitt is a little under ranked, but scouts seem to think that he is a step on the slow side and that he is just a shooter...I will beg to differ, but that is the knock and the reason he is not in the top 30...

Also of note they have 24 SG's in the top 100 and Offut is ranked the number 28 sg so that would probably put him around 120 in the rankings...

I want to say one more thing about basketball rankings then I will let it go. I have been following basketball recruiting, especially Ohio State's, since probably the mid-70s. During that time I subscribed to Van Coleman, Future Stars, Clark Francis, Hoop Scoop, and Bob Gibbons's. Every one of these guys had their biases when they talked about recruits. VC love the states that surround the cornfields of the Midwest especially Iowa and Kansas. Francis was so biased towards Kentucky and Louisville it was almost sickening. Gibbons loved NC but gave a few props to some other schools.

I guess what I'm trying to say when it comes to recruiting rankings that all services have their biases and you really have to take them with a grain of salt. They're both school biased and regional biased. You have to remember that they also have to make a living.

Golfer, why do you have to work?:)

Can't say I agree. I just don't see the bias at scout that I see on other recruiting sites....then again, maybe I am biased. :wink2:
