OSU Men's Basketball Recruiting/Projections/General Discussions

Honestly I would rate every single one of them higher than what they are...

I can live with Mullens at 4 like I mentioned in his thread...

But Buford is too low at 22 IMO...

Crater is way too low, especially since they base it on seeing him play a couple times with a team that he has never played with and is not asked to score...

Babbitt as the number 16 PF has to be a joke...

Offut is also too low...His production obviously dropped due to his injury last year as did his stock, but he is showing that he is returning to form, and he had some very good games agains the likes of Eric Gordan in his high school season, yet he continues to drop...

The Babbitt ranking is pathetic in my opinion.......regardless, once they enter Ohio State those rankings go out the window......Babbitt was wanted by all the major programs in the nation.....I find it hard to believe their is 15 PFs better than him in the country......

I guess Rivals.com wants to make sure Ohio State doesn't have the #1 class in the nation in 2008......

I agree the rankings are a little goofy but give me a good reason why Rivals would have a score to settle with Ohio State? I see no reason why they would purposely shift rankings in order to affect us?

Well Bucknuts is now affiliated with ESPN and Scout is affiliated with Fox and Rivals it is affiliated with.... I guess that's my reasoning. I think that they just want to be different from all the other services just like the other services want to be different so that everyone will subscribe to all the services to see where their school is ranked. I take all of these rankings with a grain of salt and put all my faith in Matta.

I can buy the being affiliated elsewhere and wanting to be different stuff...of course excellent reporting and analysis would stand out as the best methods, not skewed results to appear to know something everyone else doesn't know. I just don't see them having a bone to pick with OSU so I recommend no one take the rankings personally.

Like you I put my stock in Matta because he's already proven himself

Sounds like someone volunteered to be the scapegoat for my tirade

Just got home from work, couldn't respond.....I assume you directed your comments at me?

Rivals has been known to have a bias when it comes to Southern schools and California. I never said Rivals had a bone to pick with OSU, I said they have a bias problem....AKA....they have been known to look past or discredit northern schools in the past. Not just OSU, it's more about this region. On the other hand, Scout seems to evaluate talent much more evenly throughout the country and take into account the whole body of work.
