That [censored] Palmer just said that this Oregon offense is the best in the history of college football...

Ugh..major fail

Not even the best offense so far this year imo

The fighting Cam Newton's get that honor, although they started a little bit slower (Granted they played teams with a pulse early on too). I'd even tend to lean towards Boise being a little bit more well rounded.

I thought that USC would beat them; shows what I know. They will be favored in the remaining 4 games. Their toughest opponent may be Arizona and they have them in Eugene. I will say they will win out.

You have to think the freshman QB will choke at some point. I say they lose.

Wow, shows you how fast those USC teams that were the best in the history of any sport a few years ago get replaced :slappy:

I do understand what you're saying about skepticism regarding the Buckeyes. I really do as I never considered them the "Number One" team in the land when they held the ranking. However, they are a HELLUVALOT better than any of the teams that Oregon has played so far.

Thought UCLA and Tennessee were better than they are.

I definitely agree the Buckeyes are much, much better than anyone Oregon has played. No disagreements there. I just think Oregon is getting severely underrated on these forums by some just because we beat them last year.

For me, it's difficult; because I know the Ducks aren't a joke. I just don't know how good they are. They should win out, and go to the NC. However, I could see them getting their asses handed to them by a team that knows how to play sound defense and can score on their suspect defense.

And that's where my problem lies- I don't see anyone currently in the BCS top 5 that plays that level of defense... Auburn is questionable, and it sure as hell ain't coming from TCU/Boise/Utah. The only chances I see are Bama and Nebraska, and they'll need some help getting to the championship game.

Bama shouldn't..if they beat an undefeated Auburn team they'll get enough love in the polls to pass Boise in the BCS imo. I guess the help that they need is for auburn to stay undefeated. You'd think the bowl preparation would give Saban plenty of time to get his defense up to par to shut down the Ducks, although Bama hasn't played particularly well in their past 2 bowl games imo..Utah stunned them and even though they beat Texas they played sloppily and would have gotten smoked if McCoy didn't go down.

I think we could beat then by 10-14. They don't play any defense and we would have some time to get some kids healthy in secondary and at LB by the time we would play them..

We beat their ass last year while this defense is missing some components..we can still tackle and play the pass and spread pretty well....

Our offense is more dynamic then it was last year.

For shits and giggles i just compared some stats from tOSU and Oregon. Not sure what this means....other than Oregon has put up more rushing yards. I still think Herron will pick up the pace and crack the 1000 yard mark this season.

Oregon has played 1 fewer game:

QB:

Pryor
Rating: 165
Total Yards: 2460
Total TDs: 25
INT: 7

Thomas: 160
Total Yards: 2138
Total TDs: 23
INT: 6

RB:

James
Rushing: 1210 yards 14 TDs
Herron: 634 yards 12 TDs

QBs are about even in performance. James has more yards but Herron is holding his own in the TD department.

In other words, Oregon has a good offense, but not the greatest of all time.

Oregon: 264 passing yards per game and 308 rushing yards per game
OSU: 244 passing yards per game and 211 rushing yards per game

I also think that OSU shuts it down earlier than Oregon in blowout games.

We COULD beat them by 10-14, but just because we did so last year doesn't mean a whole lot this year. Transitive theories from one year to the next don't make much sense. And considering how our defense has been decimated by injuries, I wouldn't bet on it.

I think we all agree that Oregon doesn't play defense like tOSU, Bama or some others, but I don't think you can discount their strength on offense.

On a separate note, I REALLY like how Lou Holtz pronounces OreGON.

With the different eras, competition, and/or styles (i.e. or types); realistically, it is impossible to get a consensus on what school had/has the best offensive of all time. Opinions of who is the best is like assholes, everybody has a different one.

Could Oregon Football Finish Among 10 Best Offenses in College Football History?

If they continue this way, there's no question in my mind that they can be.
Say what you want about the conference in which they play, and you can say what you want about the opponents that they've faced. But let's be honest: If Alabama, Florida, Georgia, or any other SEC team played the same schedule and put up the same amount of points, you'd have the same answer as I do for Oregon.
The Ducks lead the nation in points (56.6), total yards (569.2), and are second in rushing yards per game (331.0).
