do you guys think this duck team is better than what u played in the rose bowl and if u played them again do u think the result would be the same?

I'll probably get dinged for this, but oh well.

I don't think our defense could stop them. Our defense isn't what it was last year. And they look more explosive, and better overall.

We'd definitely put up some points, but it wouldn't be a domination like it was last year. I do not want to play them this year. I was very confident last year. I am not a "sky is falling" poster, as I'm sure you know. I can't say I think we'd lose, but I think it'd be much closer than it was last year. I wouldn't put money on us. :(

Thus far, Oregon has the 84th (I believe) ranked schedule in the nation. Just wanted to put that out there for you Numby.

I'm pulling for Oregon to win out (which may very well be the kiss o' death). However, I can say with a decent level of certainty that this Ducks team isn't much different than the one last year. Thomas is faster than Masoli (and could possibly be a better passer). I don't think the defense is better at all. Their secondary is a weakness IMO.

They've still beat the shit out of some solid opponents.

What I said really has more to do with our defense than anything. I don't trust it. We got manhandled against Wisconsin, we've given up pass yardage against multiple teams, including EMU. Miami had open WRs all day, Harris just threw at us instead of them. Add our injuries in the secondary to the equation and our losses on the d-line and I think they have a lot of success through the air. And that opens the run game.

Just a bad matchup for us this year, imo. Again, not saying we'd lose, but I'd rather not find out.

Not to be overly simplistic, but (aside from Stanford) who has Oregon played so far this year that is "solid"? Seriously.

New Mexico
Tennesee
Portland State
Arizona State
Washington State
UCLA

New Mexico, Portland State, and Washington State definitely suck. Tennessee isn't going to a bowl game and continues to implode. Arizona State has officially quit on the season, and won't make a bowl game. And the UCLA team that Oregon beat is not the same UCLA team that beat Texas. One team on a slate that is ranked is not strong nor remotely solid.

I do understand what you're saying about skepticism regarding the Buckeyes. I really do as I never considered them the "Number One" team in the land when they held the ranking. However, they are a HELLUVALOT better than any of the teams that Oregon has played so far.
