We COULD beat them by 10-14, but just because we did so last year doesn't mean a whole lot this year. Transitive theories from one year to the next don't make much sense. And considering how our defense has been decimated by injuries, I wouldn't bet on it.

I think we all agree that Oregon doesn't play defense like tOSU, Bama or some others, but I don't think you can discount their strength on offense.

On a separate note, I REALLY like how Lou Holtz pronounces OreGON.

I am not using the transitive and when I used to I would only compare the same year. I just think that they can stub their toe...I think they can face some adversity and I think we can run the ball and control the clock on them.

If we were playing them say, next week then I wouldn't throw out 10-14. But then again we are talking about matching up with them at the end of the year after we get a lot of time off to heal.

Weren't we pretty healthy on defense when Miami had WRs running around our secondary uncovered? Harris just sucks at QB and couldn't get them the ball. The INTs were misleading.

We were also dominated by a running team in Wisconsin, who didn't really have that much of a threat of passing.

14 points is a lot of points to beat someone by. We beat them by 9 last year, and I think our defense is noticeably worse (don't look at stats, watch games. I don't know if our defense is better or worse statistically, but this year's version has glaring weaknesses) and their offense is much better.

Not saying we'd lose. Just saying that Oregon isn't a 14 point underdog to us.

That stinks that you choose to believe that we didn't earn the interceptions against Miami. I choose to give credit the the DL for forcing Harris to make those plays.

We didn't have much of a threat passing against Wisconsin because we were controlling the clock with the running game and moving the ball down the field. Our defense lost us that game.

I feel that our OL is better than last year and will allow more time for our offense to do the things that we would want to do against Oregon. I don't think we would need a jump ball to the TE to move the chains.

I also know that Oregon scores quickly enough that they force your tempo and play calls on down and distance.

I like how OSU matchs up against Spread teams...I really do.

Last I never said we would be favored by 14 ...just that we are capable of beating them by that many.

This Oregon team falls once and the wheels could come off. I haven't forgotten last January....their defense doesn't scare me at all...and I think Tressel is a better coach.

This is not at all what I said. Not even remotely close. I said don't let the INTs mislead you. They had WRs open. I didn't mention the d-line, I didn't mention if we earned those INTs or not (we did earn them).

I said Wisconsin isn't much of a passing threat. They beat us by being rather one-dimensional.

And yes, our defense did lose us that game, which is why I would be concerned with a matchup against an Oregon team that looks to have a much more explosive offense.

I agree.

I still don't trust this year's defense. We can't generate consistent pressure, we couldn't stop the run when it mattered most, teams are having success passing against us. And then there are the injuries.

Their defense shouldn't scare you. Our defense is what would win or lose this game for us.

And that's where my problem lies- I don't see anyone currently in the BCS top 5 that plays that level of defense... Auburn is questionable, and it sure as hell ain't coming from TCU/Boise/Utah. The only chances I see are Bama and Nebraska, and they'll need some help getting to the championship game.

Quite possibly true. I'm just saying that while I'm impressed, I'm not THAT impressed. Hedging, so to say.

I respectfully disagree. I believe Oregon is the most impressive team out there. They actually seem faster this year than last, and have put up some big numbers AND this without their #1 quarterback (Masoli).

Anyone wonder how well OSU would have been this year without Pryor? If one ruminates on that, then what Oregon accomplished so far this year is pretty fantastic. Heck, they beat up on the Pac10 bully (USC) pretty well, and thrashed the team that thrashed Texas in Austin (UCLA). If they lose (and I don't see anyone beating them), I still think they'll be OK.

That's my opinion and I'm sticking to it.

By all means, you should stick with your opinion. (as flawed as it may be :p )

Like I've said elsewhere, I'm pulling for Oregon. However, it's quite restrained the more I think about it. USC and UCLA aren't much to write home about this year. The UCLA team that beat Texas isn't the same team that Oregon beat.

I heard something today that rings rather true for me right now: I see a LOT of similarities between Oregon 2010 and Oklahoma 2008.

Very true, blonde.

It wouldn't be Oregon if they weren't inventing new colors to use for their team. You would think oregon state would be enough inspiration to avoid pink. You already added black, grey, white as official and standalone uniform colors. Weren't six colors enough?

What does it say below the center o? Matt? Ttatt? Pi-a-pi?

Had it been done subtly, this could have been a quality and unique innovation for them. Instead they went with obnoxiously overboard like usual.
