OL Sam Longo (transfer to Cincinnati, Columbus Destroyers)

Huge get, I'm very excited about this. I have a feeling Rivals may bump him up, they seem to be very high on Longo lately.

He is a kid who can claim as many as 32 college scholarship offers.....that in itself is a very good indicator that he is way underrated by the different recruiting websites.

Yeah, you have to think he'll get bumped up a little bit. I doubt the most athletic offensive lineman in the nation (in their opinions) will stay a 3*...

Is that a funky perspective effect in this picture, or is Longo just stacked???

Bucknuts.com - Longo Says Yes To The Buckeyes

If he is 6'5", based on that picture he looks quite a bit more than 260.

His videos are supposedly impressive. Anyone here seen them and care to comment?

I'm not an expert, but I have watched his videos and it appears Sam has filled out quite a bit lately. Even before that though, he pummels kids in the video. Granted, he plays in the SWBL (which is a good conference for mid-sized schools, but not a premier conference), and many of the kids he's lining up against aren't nearly as big as he is, but I thought his film was real impressive. It shows why he gets the athletic label--he moves really well for a kid his size. He also looks to have a great deal of upper-body strength (which, again, judging from recent pictures, seems to have improved even beyond what was demonstrated in his film).

Even though we all knew it was coming, I think we're all delighted to see it just the same.

Agreed! Welcome aboard, Sam!! Good luck on a rewarding and successful career...and a few national championships!

Getting Sam is a great p/u no matter what happens w/any other prospect. As much as I hate using rankings as any barometer, if Rivals has him as the best athletic overall OL and he's still a 3-star, (which won't be for long), then we are getting somebody that can flat out bring it!! I see him on the inside when he gets his chance...he's just too fast not to take advantage of that speed, imho.

OL is one of the most difficult positions to project college success. 32 offers is amazing. That in itself means the kid can play. Good luck Sam!! :groove:
