Pace will return to lineup Sunday
By Bill Coats10/23/2008
ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH
Some 45 minutes after practicing for the first time in nearly two weeks, Orlando Pace pronounced himself fit for duty. "Everything is good," Pace said Wednesday afternoon at Rams Park. "I went through the whole practice and felt pretty good."
Given that cue, coach Jim Haslett wasted no time in announcing that the seven-time Pro Bowler would start Sunday at New England.

Coach "Coop" Honored Saturday at Penn State Game
John Cooper will be inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame
Former Ohio State football head coach John Cooper (1988-2000) was honored at halftime of Ohio State's game vs. Penn State at Ohio Stadium. Cooper, who totaled 111 wins and three Big Ten championships in his 13 seasons leading the Buckeyes, will be inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame later this year.
Cooper was joined at midfield by Archie Griffin, college football's only two-time Heisman Trophy winner and current Alumni Assoc. President, and Gene Smith, Ohio State Director of Athletics and University Vice President.
Overall, Cooper went 111-43-4 for a .715 winning percentage with the Scarlet and Gray. Ohio State finished in the national Top 10 five times, including No. 2 rankings in 1996 and 1998. The Buckeyes won the Rose Bowl in the '96 season and the Sugar Bowl in '98.

I don't think majority of those in attendance were even paying attention to the ceremony; and from those that did you just heard "boos" and/or people yelling "Cooooop". :(

Cooper had a record of 111-43-4 in 13 seasons at Ohio State. Overall, he was 192-84-6 as a college head coach.
"To go into the Hall of Fame with some of those guys you idolized on the way up is the ultimate. I'm very proud, very honored, very humbled to be going in," Cooper said.

Cooper deserves respect with honor
By JON SPENCER ? For The Advocate ? October 31, 2008
I couldn't believe my ears.
In the 119-year history of Ohio State football, no numbers are more grating than John Cooper's 2-10-1 mark against Michigan. That's saying something, given the scores of the past two national championship games.
We're talking more grating than Gilbert Gottfried's voice.
But those yearly gaffes and gags against the Wolverines are ancient history. At least I thought they were until boos cascaded down upon Cooper from a record Ohio Stadium throng Saturday night as he was honored for his impending induction into the College Football Hall of Fame.
Poor sports? No, just poor timing.
Looking up from my laptop to process what I was hearing, the startling sound began to make sense. Led by its flag-waving mascot, Penn State was running back on the field for the start of the second half, just as Cooper was being presented with a commemorative plaque from OSU athletic director Gene Smith.
At least the Lions had the decency not to run in front of the midfield ceremony.
They were a lot less gracious to Cooper's successor, beating Jim Tressel's Buckeyes 13-6 and killing hopes for an unprecedented third straight outright Big Ten title.

Regardless how you feel about his W/L record vs scUM; I just believe that 5 to 10 seconds of applause/cheering would have been the classy thing to do.

There were two distinct cheers. The first was for his announcement, when ooo's reigned down (whether they were Coop or Boo, or what ratio, is impossible to tell).FrancisSawyer;1307258; said:I think they were booing Penn St. as they came out of the locker room. Pace went to seven straight Pro Bowls from 1999-2005, but the last three seasons he's played in only 18 games. Haslett said Pace might be placed on injured reserve, though he wanted to discuss the situation first with the veteran tackle.
Pace was hurt in the first half when 49ers linebacker Takeo Spikes' leg whipped into his knee. The Rams already have eight players on IR.
