OL Justin Boren (Official Thread)

I will be surprised if Justin Boren is playing for Ohio State.

Oh, I don't know. Boren looks pretty "Old School" to me in terms of his understandings of college football. What I mean by that is, there are two teams Ohio State and Michigan. There is no other choice. While he was always a Michigan man, if memory serves, he had Ohio State #2 and there was no #3 back when he was a HS Recruit.

Of course, you said "playing" and not "on Ohio State's roster" :wink2:

I don't know where Boren goes. But, OSU wouldn't surprise me at all.

Boren left the team Monday. On Wednesday he released a statement saying in part: ?Michigan football was a family, built on mutual respect and support for each other from (former) Coach (Lloyd) Carr on down. We knew it took the entire family, a team effort, and we all worked together.

?I have great trouble accepting that those family values have eroded in just a few months. ... That I am unable to perform under these circumstances at the level I expect of myself, and my teammates and Michigan fans deserve, is why I have made the decision to leave.?

Dispatch

Three years removed from the recruiting process, Justin Boren has entered it again, and now he has even better credentials than he did when he went to Michigan out of Pickerington North High School.
The Boren who decided to leave the Michigan program this week is no longer an unproven high schooler; the offensive lineman started last year for a team that was one victory from winning the Big Ten and a trip to the Rose Bowl.

a couple of things.

1-some one named margie boren called into 1460 yesterday, very interesting.

2-if justin ends up in columbus, i have not a doubt in my mind no one will want to bury michingan more...

Saying what? What was interesting about it? (I didn't hear it, so I'd like to know)

If you go to the 1460 website and you can listen to the podcast of yesterday's show. I think it was in the 6 pm hour about 20-25 minutes in.

Boren changes tune about UM program; may end up at Ohio State

If Justin Boren had serious problems with Michigan football under new coach Rich
Rodriguez, he succeeded in hiding it the last time he spoke publicly.

Boren, a would-be junior offensive guard who told Rodriguez on Monday he was leaving the team, on Wednesday e-mailed a statement to some media outlets that said the program's "family values have eroded."

But when Boren was one of three players the UM media relations department made available for interviews following the Wolverines' first spring practice on March 15, he described ways in which Rodriguez and his staff were building bonds between players and coaches.

Speaking about an offseason program in which Wolverines assistants broke the team down into smaller groups that competed against one another in academic and athletic events, Boren said: "It was a cool thing."

A friend told me yesterday he is positive Boren ends up at OSU fwiw. Just thinking about this though...this is a great example of why you never heckle or bash a recruit if they pick another school, even if it is scUM. By showing great class throughout the process from many fans and most importantly JT, OSU looks really good to Justin. Anyways he would have to sit out a year right?

Will this be the first thread to go from the recruiting forum to the CFB forum and back again?

Good luck to whoever has to clean up the language. :)

If he does come home to tOSU, his thread should be started new. That Justin Boren, the winged helmeted and crappy fight songed person wouldn't exist anymore. Kind of a rebirth of sorts.

I would be surprised if he ended up at OSU. You don't take a coach from one Big Ten program and sign him at another, I can't imagine singing a player off another team's roster... that could get very nasty, very fast. It would lead to accusations, proven or unproven, spoken or unspoken, of tampering.

Good stuff RB, and yes that is correct. He's transfering from one D-1A school to another, so he'd follow normal transfer rules. Only difference is the Big Ten transfer rules prohibiting him from receiving a scholarship if he decides to transfer to another Big Ten school.

I kinda mentioned it once already in this thread, but he's got a heck of an opportunity if he chooses to transfer here, especially with 3 of our 4 guards in the 2-deep graduating after this year. He could be a 2-year starter playing inbetween Brewster and Adams =)

Doubtful. He was at scUM for two years and everything seemed to be going well until RR arrived. I don't think even the biggest scUM conspiracy theorist would make such a ridiculous claim that Tressel or some other OSU representative/booster/what have you was in constant contact with Justin for two years to get him to leave scUM to become a Buckeye. Such a plan, in addition to landing a program in a ton of trouble, would have an absurdly low success rate.
