OL Justin Boren (Official Thread)

Justin apparently just quit at Michigan and there's some smoke about Ohio State. Anyone know any more than that?

I know you're about to get the crap dinged out of you for not posting in his official thread like everyone else has been all frickin' day...

Just over at the UM board. Hillary needs to hire some of those guys to spin her press reports.

How can you argue that the loss of your most promising OL constitutes the "removal of a cancer" or is part of a house cleaning? With the exception of some of their RB candidates Boren may have been the biggest plus on their entire O.

Can't imagine him passing up a schollie to be a Buckeye, particularly when our cupboard is anything but bare, but if he did it he could become my all time favorite player. Has a transfer between these two schools ever happened?

Man the S&M folk really know how to eat their young.

EDIT - Heard elsewhere UC as a possibility, and of course he was offered by two Florida schools (UF and the other U of M) so who knows what will happen.

Any inkling on what brought this on, this time?

He couldn't go on scholarship if he transfers to OSU. Same rule that did not allow John Kerr to go on scholarship at OSU because of transferring from Big 10 school to Big 10 school.

His sentence was sloppy... passing up a schollie in order to be a buckeye... was what he meant.

Major fallout with staff. Not very unusual for RR, if you look at previous transfers... and they were hardly all 'softies.'

The rampant speculation over there is quite premature, imo. From all reports in HS, Boren, and his coaching from his dad, was the opposite of soft.

Not getting on your case but ---
Practice these two things:

A - say "Boren will play on Sundays" a few times and
B - Read the parable of the prodigal son.

This belongs solidly in the rumor category, but bits and pieces I am picking up are that RR brings an "in your face" swearing and yelling approach to the field.

If a kid simply doesn't want to play for that style of coach and has options I say it is his call. (Anytime there is a coaching change IMO it ought to be the kids call and there shouldn't be a transfer penalty.)

Of course, the real question is do we want him if he is soft - which is what the UM boards are saying. So soft he cracked their starting lineup as a true Frosh.

Yes I can see those ;

I actually don't care , he opted out of being a Buckeye so what makes us think he can be one now. Can one switch from being a lifelong fan of scum?

B - Read the parable of the prodigal son
Well ok , but only if he grovels a lot and beg our forgiveness.

He chose Lloyd Carr and Bo, who had to stop by his house to prevent him from coming to OSU. Say what you want about his recent results on the field, but he was a standup, honorable guy. He chose a pro-set offense protecting pro-style QBs at his father's program. New UM has absolutely no resemblance to what he chose. Heck, outside of a few backup RBs, there is absolutely nothing about his world (UM offense) that resembles what he chose.

Too many over on the UM boards are making the assumption that because RR closed the 'Country Club' at UM, esp in the offseason, that Boren must not be able to handle the conditioning, the verbal abuse, or both.

Even if he never sees the field, if UM lets Boren come to OSU, you take him as a walkon. The PR damage would be astronomical... boren pays for his recruiting decision, literally... only proven starter on struggling UM offense would rather pay and sit on OSU's bench than stay at UM...

OSU almost went 2 full years without losing a single OH kid to UM head to head... this certainly would not help change that trend.

[sarcasm]Doesn't matter. They have Barwis. He could probably take my 6'1, 165 LB ass and turn me into an All Big-10 OL.[/sarcasm]
