That would be my guess. I like that Chase is a "jack-of-all-trades" guy for us, who is able to play at a high energy level on both sides of the ball.Perhaps because of the return of Tommy Schutt?

Farris back to offense?
Redshirt sophomore Chase Farris has bounced from the defensive line to the offensive line and, this year, back to defense. But with the return of defensive tackle Tommy Schutt from a broken foot, another switch might be in the offing for Farris.
Asked whether Farris was back working with his unit, Warinner said, “He isn’t, yet. We’ll see where that goes with some of the injuries they’ve had over there. He’s been on the defensive line. We’ll see where we go when everything is healthy over there.”
Elyria’s Farris, Sprinkle won’t join Ohio State for Orange Bowl
Filed on December 24, 2013 by Tim Gebhardt
Elyria High graduates Chase Farris and Tracy Sprinkle are spending the holidays at home in Elyria and will not be a part of Ohio State’s Orange Bowl game against Clemson on Jan. 3.
But both expect to make an impact on next year’s Buckeyes football team.
Farris, who injured his ACL on Nov. 19, the Tuesday prior to the Indiana game, is rehabbing after surgery two weeks ago. He said he’s already walking on the knee and expects to be ready for the start of next season.
Farris started one game and saw action in seven this season.
“I’m not really sure if I’ll be back on defense or offense,” Farris said. “I’m working hard — trying to get better every day.”
The 6-foot-4, 308-pound Farris was moved from the offensive line to defense to give the Buckeyes better depth on the defensive line.
His position coach, Mike Vrabel, was pleased with his work this season.
“Chase has shown great versatility throughout his career at Ohio State,” Vrabel said. “He is an outstanding student who routinely carries a 3.0 gpa. He was a contributing to our defensive line rotation when he was injured. He is a fierce competitor who will rehab tirelessly to get back on the field as soon as possible.”
Farris will be a junior next fall and is a consumer and family financial services major.
The 6-2 Sprinkle is expected to be red-shirted after not playing this fall as a true freshman defensive tackle. He expects to play at 275-280 pounds and “maintain my speed.”
“Tracy continues to improve each day on and off the field,” Vrabel said. “We are pleased with his progress and look forward to seeing his toughness and positive attitude take him to the next step in his career.”
Sprinkle hopes to win a spot on the defensive line rotation next year.
“That’s the goal,” he said. “College is quite a change from high school, but I love Ohio State.”
Sprinkle credits Farris with a lot of help on campus.
“He’s kind of taken me under his wing and showed me around,” Sprinkle said. “It’s been a big help.”
“It’s nice to have him here,” Farris said. “He’s working hard. It’ll be special if we can both be on the field at the same time next year.”
Two others - junior OL Chase Farris and junior LB Devan Bogard - will also be held out of spring drills while continuing to recover from surgery last fall.
And Chase Farris has moved back to offensive line, where he played in 2012 but converted to defensive line last season when Tommy Schutt was injured in the preseason.
Good. I was impressed with Farris' aggression when he was on defense last year. IMO you keep him there this year and next year because the offensive line will be fine this year and has a massive fushion of talent coming next fall too
I agree but what does this say about the rest of the DT's on the roster?I like this move. A veteran guy, who is also a big body.
The only thing it says is that we are thin in depth on the DL and that this is a game that will really need the fresh legs in rotation on the DL more than on the OL.I agree but what does this say about the rest of the DT's on the roster?
I think it says that you play your best players. Chase isn't new to the DL. He is an experienced guy and his strength is against the run. If he can help out in a pinch then why not? It's better than sitting on the bench and not contributing other than Special Teams. I still think we see Schutt out there as well.I agree but what does this say about the rest of the DT's on the roster?
