OL Alex Boone (Official Thread)

I find it amusing that the article is about the hair, and Boone is carrying the torch, and Carpenter and Schlegel started it, and not once is A.J. Hawk mentioned. I was under the impression that Hawk was one of the main guys in the beginning of the entire long-hair deal, as a sort of tribute to the fallen Pat Tillman, along with Carp and Schlegel.

I think it became a tribute to Tillman once they realized all of the press they were getting to make all of the press actually about something important...for some reason I recall Schelegel being the first with long hair, but I can't say that I actively tracked it :tongue2:

FWIW, Hawk was the first to begin growing out his hair.

Somewhere AlexBooneFan is salivating.
Nah, it appears she got chased away in the harsh aftermath of the NC game threads. What a dark time for tOSU fans.

As for Alex, he seems to be getting lean and mean....checking in at 12 pounds lighter than last year. Sheesh, if he'd cut that mop, he's probably be 15 pounds lighter.

This is probably Alex's "money" year so I suspect he'll be a wrecking ball. Good news for the Wells boys.

Well, I hope you are right, but every prognosticator out there suggests he's leaving if he continues his progression.
which "prognosticator?" Lou Holtz maybe. In all seriousness, I just didn't see much from AB last year that made me feel he was NFL ready.. too many dumb mistakes, and it looks like he really didn't put his best foot forward this off season, he looks great but sloppy play so far. I'm confident he'll turn it around, starting this week.

Guy on the o-zone posted this from 1460 earlier: 'Boone played better when he was fat and drunk' :slappy: this cracks me up, saw him playing beer pong with a midget once, probably one of the funniest things i've ever seen.

Not bashing AB, I think he'll be fine, but he needs to tidy up his play as with the rest of the offense, very sloppy first half.

I'm not hear to debate w/ you whether he IS ready. What I'm telling you, point blank, is that Alex has been considering it. It's been well documented. Personally, I hope he stays for his own benefit, but we all know that doesn't always happen.

With all the offensive line problems we've had (although in the last few games the line has been great) I think Alex has played very solid. It seemed it was mainly Cordle and Rehring getting beat up early on. But I could be wrong. Alex has looked GREAT on run blocking this year.

Close shaves nothing new for OSU's Boone
BY JOHN SPENCER | THE MANSFIELD JOURNAL

1x1.gif

Ohio State cut it close Saturday, and offensive tackle Alex Boone never saw it coming. Reminded him of the sneak attack earlier in the week by his shears-wielding girlfriend.
"I'm a sound sleeper, and when I woke up it was gone," Boone said, mourning the loss of his shoulder-length locks. "She was jealous because I may have looked better than her. Can you believe that?"
Actually, no. His stylish coif looked suspiciously like it came from one of those expensive salons, not from some spiteful loved one.

Ohio State offensive lineman Alex Boone blocks out blame from national championship loss

Thursday, October 25, 2007Doug Lesmerises
Plain Dealer Reporter
Columbus -- In his Arizona hotel room after the national championship, a teary Alex Boone told his mother he'd single-handedly cost Ohio State the game in the Buckeyes' 41-14 loss to Florida.
For the next several weeks, that was a popular theory.
"I'd turn on the TV and everyone was just dogging me out," the Buckeyes' left tackle said. "Like, He just lost that game.' And I was like, I did.' "
