OL Alex Boone (Official Thread)

:! Does anyone know why Alex came out of the game in the 3rd or 4th quarter. He seemed to be in pain?

Doesnt sound too serious...from bucknuts

* Starting left tackle Alex Boone left the game in the second half with an undisclosed injury. With Boone out, guard Tim Schafer moved to tackle and Steve Rehring, who splits time with Schafer, moved in full-time at guard.
?As far as Alex goes, I think he got dinged up a little bit in the second half and just wasn't to the level that he or we felt that we needed at that point and so as I listened, I think Coach Bollman felt as if it was time to give him a little bit of a blow,? Tressel said.

I didn't notice him walking with a limp after the game (walking to the team bus, signing autographs, etc.), so hopefully he'll be ready for Penn State.

But again...what a great thing it is to have the depth at O-Line we do!

I noticed him struggling as well but at the same time I've seen him make some incredible plays with good blocks. I attribute "growing pains" for that and possibly the drinking did slow his progression down. I think in the end he will be extremely dominant.

I just wish he would put more into his workouts. He looks like he workouts out but could and probably should be more muscular. Imagine that with his talent what an explosion that would be

Hopefully its dings and nothing else. We surely cannot afford to have in out in the Penn State game. I know we have great depth :) But I would feel much better with him in there

Does he normally sign autographs? I did get my pic with him. Alex seems much more friendly than most of the guys. He seems to be more down to earth. Is that what you've experienced?

I agree. He is great now and will dominating / excellent.

BTW, I love you're aviator. Its a classic!

He is not great now.

He has the potential to be a great player, but right now he is probably our worst starting offensive lineman. LT is probably the toughest position to play on the OL, and hes only a true sophomore, but he isnt great.

I disagree. Maybe he's not great on a consistent basis but he shows signs of greatness. I would say he's very good to great at times. I hardly ever see the left side break down and he always moves his man from the line and quite frequently disposes of him. Is he dominating ? Sometimes. But I think he deserves the ranking of very good to great at times.

I disgree with you. I like Boone and he will be a 'great' one at some point, right now he's our worst lineman mentally..

I wonder if he is in the wrong position and should/could be playing right tackle?

Of coarse, Barton has that locked down...........

And he is experiencing growing pains.

Every team has a speed rusher these days.

When he gets to be consistant he will be great. Right now he is not there.

Well, I agree he shows signs of being great and then sometimes not. Its growing pains. Its amazing considering he's really only played a few games considering he hardly played last year and he's doing so well for that short time
