NORMAN -- An employee at Jackie Cooper Imports in Edmond confirmed on Saturday that Nelson Peterson, father of Oklahoma running back Adrian Peterson, is an employee at the car dealership.
Jackie Cooper, an Oklahoma City-area businessman for more than five decades, is listed as an official financial donor to the University of Oklahoma athletic department.
In light of recent events surrounding the dismissal of two players for their relationship with a Norman dealer -- including the use of a car last winter by Peterson -- it's likely the NCAA will include Nelson Peterson's employment at Jackie Cooper BMW in what most figure is an inevitable investigation.
Nelson Peterson was recently released from a federal prison in Texarkana, Texas. He was remanded to a halfway house in Dallas and has moved to a halfway house in Oklahoma City. Nelson Peterson's incarceration means he hasn't seen his son play football live since Adrian's seventh-grade season.
An OU official said Saturday the university knew of Nelson Peterson's employment at Jackie Cooper Imports.
Both the OU official and the employee at the dealer, who requested anonymity, said Peterson's employment was legitimate and would not be found in violation of NCAA rules. The

The employee said Peterson's hire was unusual but not unprecedented for the dealership. For privacy reasons, he declined to identify whether Peterson was employed full- or part-time and what his duties at the dealership are.

Interesting find, 27.

I wonder how many of the car dealership's other employees have received a 10-year sentence in a federal prison for crimes like laundering drug (crack cocaine) money? That was the sentence Nelson Peterson was given in 1999. A recent article indicated that he would not be released from a halfway house until October 5th. NOTE - The halfway house was apparently changed from one in Dallas to one in Oklahoma City.

Seems like another layer being peeled away from a rotten onion.

Here's the article that talked about his release from prison:

OU RB Peterson has extra motivation

Oklahoma officials ignited Adrian Peterson's Heisman Trophy campaign Thursday, and the junior running back admitted he will have extra motivation for what many believe will be his last season at OU.

Nelson Peterson, Adrian's father, is scheduled to be released from a Dallas halfway house Oct. 5 – two days before OU meets Texas at the Cotton Bowl. It would be the first time for Peterson to watch, in person, his son play high school or college football.

Nelson Peterson has served seven-plus years of a 10-year sentence for laundering money acquired in the distribution of crack cocaine. He was transferred from a federal prison in Texarkana to Dallas on June 9, according to prison records.

"It's going to be crazy being able to just look in the stands," said Peterson, who also credited his mother and 1-year-old daughter, Adasia, as motivators this season. "I know that it's going to give me the extra drive that I need. God willing, he [his father] should be there."
Coach Bob Stoops said Nelson Peterson has been a strong influence in Adrian's life, and having him around full time would be "a big positive."

On a conference call with national reporters, Peterson also faced a line of questioning that tripped up former Texas running back Cedric Benson. When asked if he'd rather win the Heisman or beat Texas, Peterson said: "Absolutely beat Texas."
What about the Heisman or a national championship?

"Winning a national championship is a goal we set as a team, and as a team, that's what matters," Peterson said.

Peterson said he feels 100 percent healthy and now weighs 223 pounds (up from 215). He needs 1,086 yards to break the school's all-time rushing record set by Billy Sims (4,118 yards).

He is not alone though. This Usa Today article sketches tosu "after the scandal years"

Yes, but USA Today is not dragging Ohio State through the crap. The article is saying that Ohio State has finally rid itself of Clarett and that Smith paid his price. A much different thing than this racist, sensationalist who screams because he has nothing of value to say.

Screamin' is just the next Trev!

I keep hearing more and more grumbling from the few prominent UT alumni I know that this is going to go get quite a bit worse before it goes away...Its all just rumors but interesting.
thats what I was thinking the day it came out. To dump your starting qb so fast , tells me there trying to cover up a bigger mess and getting some respect by the NCAA for acting so fast. More will come,,,,,,,,they might top USC'S disasters
