Ohio State Wrestling (2015/2017/2018 B1G Champs, 2015 National Champs, 2019 National Runners-up)

Tight win for Kollin over Norfleet with an 11-9 decision. That kid seems to wrestle him tough, but it was obvious Kollin came out looking for bonus and took some ill advised chances. Up 17-13 with only heavyweight to go against a very tough Tanner Hall. C'mon Gas Tank Gary Traub, no bonus and we walk away with a win.

Gas Tank Gary fights his heart out and gives Hall all he can handle. Fell by decision, but secures Ohio State victory 17-16! What a dual, our guys came to wrestle and won a dual I thought might get ugly with all our roster holes. Make no mistake about it, enormous win over a team that beat Penn State in a dual earlier this year. Color me impressed by this win.

Big time win!

I don’t get what the plan was there for Hall. Is there any reason why ASU would be more concerned with Hall getting the win vs the team winning the match? It seems to me that he should have been much more aggressive there.

I was thinking the same thing. Seemed like Hall just wanted the win, not bonus. But Traub is no slouch, he can hang with some tough guys.

Romero was spectacular last night. When he has that look, you know he is going to be tough to beat.

Hoffman keeping that to a major decision was nothing short of spectacular. Zahid is as good as there is.

Pletcher beat his guy like a rented mule. His attack is so good right now, compared to what it used to be.

Norfleet gave Moore fits again, but Kollin ground out the win.

Really glad to see Sasso and Decatur wrestle well. Not sure what the deal is with Heinselman. They could really use Echemendia in this lineup. Maybe he goes to 157 since Sasso is wrestling well at 149?

Yeah -- I thought it was really strange that Hall was intent on riding out Traub in the 2nd period rather than letting him loose to go after more points, but I don't know shit about wrestling, so I thought maybe I was missing something.

No idea what the status on Echemendia is. He's working out with the term, but I'm not sure if there are eligibility issues in wrestling this year. He would be a giant boost at 157 and could put us in the mix for a title (but probably only if we get Singletary back). Apparently Kinner moved all the way up to 157, but not sure if he'd be an improvement over Cleary, that's an enormous weight jump.

On Heinselman, he is a product of the risk you take in bringing on a 106 pound wrestler hoping he can wrestle at 125 on talent and technique. He just hasn't developed physically and it's getting concerning... we need to take a 125 lber in this recruiting class that's ready to go.

With Hoffman, that took a ton of balls not to get pinned or teched. That being said, i would expect to see Rocky make a debut soon at 184. Hoffman is cutting a ridiculous amount to get down to 184 and he should be a 197 if Moore wasn't there. And Rocky was also cutting a ton to get to 174, should be more comfortable at 184.

Tanner is no point machine by any means, so part of that is his style. But he was more conservative than I thought he would be given the circumstances. There is some tape out on Traub now though and I think he's getting some respect.
