I saw this post over on BSD. The guy who authored it hates OSU with a passion. Pletcher has beaten both guys in front of him and had he not been seeded in Ashnault's bracket he would have been in the finals. I like him to get third. I think Jrod can win against Thorton and Burcher can beat Sebastian but I would not bet my house on either guy given some of their performances this year. That brings us to the finals.

125 - Gilman has been a machine and with Soriano out he will cruise to a win and maybe get outstanding wrestler
133 - NaTo has looked 'off' his game but Clark looks like he's still dinged up and I think NaTo wins a close one
141 - Ashnault wins his second title in a close match over Gasca
149 - Retherford winning seems assured but Micah needs to keep it close and get out from bottom because that will be the key to not giving up bonus
157 - Nolf will win and he could end up sticking Kemmer because he's that good - he's so far above every other 157
165 - Imar in a close match over Massa in a defensive bout
174 - I think a healthy Bo wins just on experience alone but Hall is a prodigy and if Bo can't keep him down and score from bottom he may have a tough time scoring from neutral
184 - The dual match was close and I like Myles to reverse the results today and win his first B1G - If he wins he may be able to avoid Dean's side of the bracket
197 - Kellen had a lot chances to score in the dual and just couldn't convert - if he can convert 2 of those and stay out of the scrambles he can win but Pfarr is funky and he finds ways to win close matches
285 - This is an interesting match and contrast of styles - I like Kyle to win but I'm interested to see if he can wear Medberry down like he has every other 285 - if he can bonus I think that bodes well for our chances

I will be honest in saying I don't know the process for White being able to join the team in 2017 versus 2018...but as far as I know, he has been wrestling and staying in shape, so assuming he could join next year, I think he would be a huge shot in the arm at 165. As for Ryan, he was on his way to being what we needed at that weight imo but the injuries threw him way off...we will have plenty of big point scorers in NaTo, Pletcher/Hayes, M. Jordan, B. Jordan, M. Martin, Moore and Snyder. Rodriguez can also put up some points and I am presuming some improvement/him being healthy. I think we just need our 157 to win a few matches at NCAA's and a healthy Ryan can do that...it seems like the distant past, but Ryan was wrestling very well last year and while he did not put up a ton of points, he won some big matches.

That being said, we could certainly improve at that weight, but I am just not sure how unless Mic bumps up (which is certainly possible, he is a pretty big 149...I thought he would be a 157 coming out of high school). It is possible Pletcher could stay at 141, Hayes goes up to 149 and Mic goes to 157...that eliminates the gap somewhat, just not sure that each wrestler would be best served at those weights. And looking at the board of high school seniors, there are not really any recruits that I am aware of that could come in and wrestle at 157 next year, as pretty much everyone is committed. In any event, we just cannot have two weights back-to-back with that gap.

I watch way too much wrestling...:nod: but in the interest of honesty I missed big time on Martin's match. Brooks is just a bad match up for him and one I don't see him correcting. He was backing up from the get go because he didn't want to get caught in that two on one wrist ride (Russian tie) and that is what caused the hip toss from Brooks. That took the starch right out of him. At this level you cannot get your arm broken down and trapped behind your back. That is a recipe for losing every time.

I keep reading on other boards that White is planning to transfer but no one has offered any credible proof that it's in the works. White in the OSU lineup this year would have been a huge boost. Someone mentioned a possible grad transfer at 165 next year but no real details.

To OSU... there are more than a few mentions on Themat forum as well as on OWN, Bucknuts & Yappi. But there is also a lot of misinformation such as eligibility next season. A few people mentioned that he would have to sit out 1 year coming from D2. Not the same rule as football apparently. Others seemed to think he would be good to go in 2017-18 if he got accepted. Like I said a lot of chatter but nothing solid. A positive is that he's connected to a lot of the 2017-2018 OSU guys on twitter.

174 - #3 same side as #2 Realbuto
184 - #6 same side as #2 Nickal, #3 Brooks & #7 Dudley
197 - #3 same side as #2 Pfarr
285 - #1 same side as #4 Kasper and #5 Nevills

Of note... Soriano got a #3 seed when it was being speculated he would be dropped to #6. Joseph got #3 and avoided Imar - thanks to Zeke Jordan. Hall ended up at #5 with #1 Valencia

I'll need to look at the brackets later in the week but seems like we got some rough draws. On the plus side, Burcher got in when I didn't think he would. If he could just win a consolation match or two, it would be huge.

Jacob Decatur wins D2 106# Ohio state title. 12-6.

Jordan Decatur wins a close one for D2 126#. 7-6. NaTo was in his corner tonight. Don't know for sure but would assume Nate was in Jacob's corner, too.

Carr beats Mattox. 7-1. I was able to somehow find a live Periscope for it and Carr was the aggressor from the start and looked better throughout. Carr is a must get. Mattox did not look good on bottom.

Romero with the fall, maybe a minute into the match, and then throws up an O-H.
