Ohio State Wrestling (2015/2017/2018 B1G Champs, 2015 National Champs, 2019 National Runners-up)

JDJ was taken down early and scUM got 2:51 of riding time in the first. I just don't understand when I watch him. I am also surprised we haven't recruited anyone that has overtaken him from the line-up.

Nice job by Jordan! Just too good.

Great to see Hunter on the mat though not a ton of action from him. Just seemed like he was hesitant.

I can barely even watch JDJ anymore honestly. And we might have needed one of Toms or Mic to get bonus there...Kressevic against Murphy might get rough. As for recruiting, I'm not sure it was apparent that JDJ would implode like he has. But we do have Pletcher for 133 most likely next year, who is an absolute stud and should be an instant impact.

Thank you BTN, Finally get to see tOSU matbucks on the air. Now if we can just add Lady Buckeye basketball......nice to see Stieb come back. Doesn't look too confident but gave it a good go. I miss St. Johns.......Go Bucks, whatever the sport!

I thought Hunter would be back by the Illinois dual but word is he truly is healthy right now and back to his old level. If that is true, you are looking at an AA at the very least and the only chance at beating PSU. To be honest, I thought PSU was fairly beatable at the beginning of the year...but the emergence of Nolf and Nickal make it pretty tough to overcome that lineup. Not impossible, but close to it.

That being said, if we keep healthy this could be an absolutely epic NCAA's.
Agree. I did not expect Nolf and Nickal to be this good and Rutherford hasn't missed a beat

The Myles Martin match is a bummer, really felt like he controlled the match and lost. But great for Bo to get the tech fall, that keeps us in it. Not super confident though, Courts is not beating his kid most likely and almost no chance we win at 197 or heavy.

Disappointing for sure but not really surprised at all. Courts could wrestle Abonader 100x and not win. JDJ was his usual self. Mark Martin looks undersized and over matched every bout and I don't see him qualifying for NCAA. Myles Martin just needs to finish those shots. I think he was gassing in OT.

Kid has some nasty shots; going to be a good one; just young and needs to learn how to finish against veteran college-level defenders. Thumbs up to Toms, Micah, Hunter (even in a loss), and Bo. Courts wrestled well but Abounador won the scrambles. Ceiling is getting clear with regard to DJD, Mark Martin, and TAV. Snyder is back v. Penn State? Go Bucks!

Agreed on almost every point except that Myles Martin lost to a freshman...should have won but it is just one match. And same could be said about the dual in itself, important part is peaking at NCAA's. But I think we could have some exciting matchups with Snyder back in the lineup and Ryan healthy.

The wrestling Buckeyes came back strong to beat #7 Nebraska today 21-17 and it was a blast to watch. Personally, I thought it was our best team effort of the season and while there was a lot to be excited about, Kyle Snyder made a surprise debut at heavyweight and did not disappoint in the slightest by dominating the #17 guy in the country in the final match to win. The score showed closer than the results, as neither Hunter or Bo wrestled. The breakdown:

125: #1 Tomasello major decision over # 9 Tim Lambert 16-5: Unfortunately BTN Plus did not kick in for this match and I missed this but a VERY impressive win for Toms.
133: #8 Johnny DiJulius decision over #12 Eric Montoya 9-4: Huge win for Johnny and in my mind, the turning point for the win (albeit that it was early in the dual). Wrestled well from every position and really dominated on top. I hope this means he will get momentum moving forward but you just have to accept that he is a wildcard, and one that is capable of getting you a big win like this one.
141: #6 Micah Jordan major decision over #20 Anthony Abidin 13-4: Mic is an absolute hammer and dominated every last second of this match. His last takedown was about the dirtiest shuck I have ever seen. Announcer said he has Mic picked to win it all at 141 and I have to say he certainly could do it, wide open weight class. I just love how aggressive he is and he is a giant 141. His loss this year was a fluke imo, he is going to destroy it moving forward.
149: #5 Jake Sueflohn tech fall over Sal Marandino 21-5: Apparently Hunter had strep throat, so unfortunately we got blasted here. So Nebraska got at least two more points than they should have here.
157: #12 Jake Ryan decision over #17 Tyler Berger via tie breaker 6-4: Maybe the biggest step from anyone, Jake wrestled a phenomenal match. He has such great defense that he can come out on top in almost any match imo. Got a reversal and back points in double overtime, very exciting mach,
165: Forfeit: No idea why we didn't wrestle anyone here. Bo is banged up but giving up the forfeit really hurt here. 6 points hurts but it was really at least a 9 point swing because Bo would have at least got a win by decision.
174: #15 Myles Martin decision over #14 Micah Barnes 7-4: Really thrilled with the way Myles wrestled. Really explosive leg attacks and finished well. Dominant win over a very good wrestler and if he wrestles like that, he can seriously AA this year. Another crucial win.
184: #5 TJ Dudley decision over #12 Kenny Courts 7-1: The score makes this loss look worse than it was. Kenny actually attacked and wrestled hard today, no complaints here. Good match for Kenny.
197: #16 Aaron Studebaker decision over Josh Fox 3-0: No Mark Martin but Fox really did a great job filling in and keeping it close.
HWT: #2 Kyle Snyder major decision over #17 Collin Jensen 20-9: Surprise debut and Kyle got quite the standing ovation for coming back. He gave up an early takedown but never looked back after that. Completely demolished a very quality, veteran wrestler. His leg attacks are absolutely deadly and nothing like you will see with any other heavyweight. And he looks enormous now, so my size concerns have gone away...he is still probably about 230 but he is plenty big enough to compete there. His return truly means a shot at a consecutive title, he is that good.

Great day for the wrestling Bucks, hopefully they keep it up.

Like I said above I think he's capable of running the table. He and Gwiz could be an epic match.
