Not much nice to say after that performance yet again... guess we were due for a down year. This just isn't a top 10 team. Rocky just astounds me, he was supposed to be the best of the Jordan clan and he might fall out of the top 20 before long... that weight is really killing us. Only real positives are that Malik looks WAY improved, the guy he beat destroyed him last year... and Orndorff looked better. 133 is going to be a struggle and looks like 141 is as well unless Ech comes along soon. 157 we just don't have an answer for this year. 165 could be good if Smith gets back to form. 174 Romero is a stud. 197 we have potential but Hoffman or Singletary need to keep improving. Here's to hoping we improve.

Another big test for Malik on Friday with MSU's Rayvon Foley. Should be a really good match. I think Malik has improved to the point that he will be competitive in every match this year..except Spencer Lee of course. Foley is tough though with that long frame. Haven't seen any new ratings lately but he was rated #10. Other good viewing (B10 + I think 7pm) will be Kaleb vs. #17 Drew Hughes at 174 and Gavin vs. #7 Cameron Caffey at 197.
Go Bucks!

Malik vs. Foley will be fun, I agree Malik can wrestle competitive every match (except Lee, who nobody will touch this year)...if can pull that off, he is a legit AA contender...fun to see him finally coming into his own and coming near his potential. Also, probably didn't talk enough about Romero...he is getting way more aggressive on his feet and that blast double is dirty, he could legit make a run at the title this year, I think he could beat Kemrer or Massa if he is at his best and wrestles aggressive like he is right now. Also, a brilliant match from Hoffman at 197, he wrestled an incredibly smart match with the way he played the edge and kept action going without getting a stall...won us the dual right there.

At most we might get 4 on the podium but the good thing with wrestling is it is fun to watch the individual performances...Romero and Sasso could make a run for it all and that is fun to watch even if the team as a whole is very down this year.

With Kaleb Romero and his double leg I know he was all-state at Mechanicsburg H.S. as a QB but I don't know if he was a two way player as well. I suspect he was and that could definitely explain his prowess with that move along with the aggressiveness it takes . Kemmerer is a dog though that I don't think he's quite ready for but I've been wrong before, so..

Really excited about next year dual lineup when we hopefully bring everyone back and add Kharchla, Gallagher, Gonzalez, and a more seasoned Echemendia along with Feldman.

Another 'meh' overall performance against the low-rated Spartans. Highlights were Heinselman's dec. over Foley, Romero and Smith winning easily, and a couple falls in jv ..by Singletary and an impressive Bryce Hepner at 157 who should maybe be starting soon. D'Emilio lost his match 3-2 after being declared a 6-3 winner and I still don't understand that one. And Sasso hopefully learned an important lesson by needing a last second td to win 7-6. In other matches Echemendia won because he's a td machine but has no idea yet on top, Decatur (W) and Hoffman (L) looked pretty good and Orndorff (W)is improving. Cleary and Jordan not so much.

41-0 over Maryland.

Only the 4th shutout ever in a conference dual meet for the Bucks. The others:

21-0 over Wiscy in 1928
28-0 over NW’ern in 1937
52-0 over Purdue in 1979

I typed more.

I thought if we set realistic expectations for this team, it was a pretty nice win overall. Malik came up with another huge win against a ranked opponent, this time a top 10 guy. Decatur beat a guy ranked close to him at 133 and looked much better. Echemendia is still learning the folkstyle ropes and it shows, but he is explosive on his feat and fun to watch, good win. Sasso looked off his game and had trouble getting through those greco locks from his opponent, I notice he seems to give up an early take down right away in some matches but this one went way too close. Cleary is flat out boring and does nothing out there, I hope we see Hepner work in because at least he would be interesting to watch. Smith was super aggressive and won 14-3 over a pretty quality opponent in Tucker, great win. Romero is a freight train at 174 and looked amazing out there, beat up on a very good Hughes and that double leg is a thing of beauty, his strength and quickness is on full display. Rocky...no idea what is going on, he looks nothing like the wrestler he did coming out of HS and really not even close to last year unfortunately. Hoffman just didn't have the reach at 197 on that tall kid, that might have been a better one for Singletary. Orndorff had a freaking sick throw out there, fun to see a heavy do that. All in all, not too bad.

On Maryland, good job Bucks but I won't get to watch that until tomorrow or Tuesday on BTN+, so I will hold back comments on that.

Just got to watch the Maryland dual...Maryland is god awful, but still impressive. Cleary and Ech got some close wins that could have gone either way, good on them. But one guy that is really improved and keeps impressing me is Ethan Smith...he is WAY more aggressive and getting to his finishes quick and in a variety of ways...really think he stands on the podium if he keeps wrestling like he is right now, very impressed. Would love to see Smith and Romero go in the room, seems clear they are pushing each other to be aggressive on their feet and its working, both are incredible shape and look like they could wrestle 3 full matches in a row...hopefully its contagious and Rocky catches it.
