Ohio State Wrestling (2015/2017/2018 B1G Champs, 2015 National Champs, 2019 National Runners-up)

Sick to my stomach with Myles losing.....Dean just had a game plan and executed it, Myles looked confused out there. Clutch ending for Dean.

But - then Kollin goes out there and absolutely dominates every second and gets another shot at Bo....good luck to him, Bo looks nasty. The least chiseled, least physically imposing of the final 4 at 197, but head and shoulders above all.

Finally getting in to comment. Overall, you can't ask for much more than we have got. We knew we wouldn't win the thing but damn, I don't think our team knew that...they wrestled like they were going for a title and I am damn proud of this team no matter how tomorrow shakes out. My specific thoughts:

125: Heinselmann won a match but that was really his ceiling, should have got the RS this year. He is going to be good once he can add some pounds and adjust to the college level.

133: Pletcher has had an amazing tourney and great rematch win over Phillipi...then he gave Fix everything he could handle...proud of Luke's effort. Has a very winnable match against DeSanto tomorrow to get into the 3rd place match again.

141:McKenna has been his usual awesome self and the match against Lee was wrestled so damn smart...man I hope he gets the title tomorrow, he deserves it. Kid is too damn talented to not have a title to his name.

149: Then Mic...he was out to score all he could and he looked awfully awkward to start the semis, but he followed through in the 2nd and 3rd. I don't think there is anyone I have ever wanted to win a title so bad as I want Mic to win it tomorrow. I pace the floor when he wrestles, I wasn't even that nervous for my own matches. Such an amazing kid that works his tail off nonstop to be a champ. I am going to be pacing the floor for the finals tomorrow and man oh man, I really hope its his turn against Ashnault tomorrow. He is right there and I think he's got this.

157: What was that old adage about if you don't have something nice to say? I forgot it, so I guess I'll speak candidly. Ke-Shawn Hayes has some soul searching to do this offseason. He didn't just have an awful tournament, he had an awful year. He is wrestling up a weight and is much more natural at 149. But he should have been an AA or on the cusp at 157. He's not coming in the ballpark of his potential. Hopefully he pulls a Kenny Courts and redeems his lofty recruiting ranking by surprise in his senior year because so far, its been pretty disappointing.

165: Campbell was one match away from the podium and while its tough to not see him AA, that was a hell of a tourney for him. Complete team player that had some rough luck with injuries but did all he could for the team and was a great wrestler here.

174: Put Smith into the "sort of bummed" category. He could (imo should) have won the first match. Then he wins two nice matches in consolations, then loses a totally winnable match to Lydy. That being said, I think Smith has a bright future here.

184: Man...this one just breaks my heart and I think everyone feels the same from the Ohio State side. Just no way Myles should have lost that match. His senior season was near absolute perfection and it looked like nobody could come close to touching him this weekend. Will be one of the best wrestlers we've had in Columbus and should have multiple titles to his name. In no way at all am I disappointed in Myles Martin, but that was one of the all-time most disappointing losses to watch because he is an outstanding person and you just wanted it for him so bad. And I don't think anyone saw him even getting challenged this weekend, let alone losing. As good as we wrestled all weekend, this one stings and makes it tough to enjoy the rest of the success. Hope he can bounce back and take 3rd, but you know it will be bittersweet regardless.

197: Kollin Moore has wrestled like a pissed off wrestler that has something to prove...mission accomplished. Great tournament overall but demolishing Weigel 12-2 in the semis was the best I have ever seen Kollin wrestle. That was his peak and if he brings that against Nickal, he could make it interesting. Will he beat Nickal. Virtually no chance unless Nickal trips to his shoulder blades or forgets when the match is. But that's just because Nickal is probably the best P4P wrestler in the nation. Regardless, very proud of how Kollin has wrestled and he has been a joy to watch in this tourney.

HWT: I think Chase had an excellent showing. Beat a very tough Jensen in the first round, gave #1 White literally all he could handle in the second, won a match in consolations, and then lost a close one. Chase is going to be very good imo. He just needs time to put on about 15-20 pounds and I think you will see Chase contending right at the top. Great season and great tournament.

If I remember correctly... you get 10 if you win finals by a decision... but 7 is already counted in team total just qualifying for championship match
so there's only 3 points at stake... excluding bonus.. correct?

Trying to mentally see how tOSU and OSU finish.. they have two in the finals... we have three... and we're up 12.5.. so worst case, we've locked up second.. correct?

You know, I've wrestled with that Q and A a long time too. And I haven't been too passive with it either. You might say I've taken it to the mat and tried to pin it down.

Living in SE PA, I get to enjoy witnessing firsthand how Ohio State lives rent free in the Penn State fan base’s collective heads.

If we could somehow breakthrough a little more often head to head with these guys in wrestling, it would send them over the edge and I’d absolutely love the shit out of it.

Besides all of that, congrats to the team and head coach Ryan for running a high level program the university and alumni can be proud of.

Well, the finals were about as disappointing as they could be from an Ohio State fan standpoint. The McKenna match makes me want to punch through a wall...that was about the worst officiating I have seen..should not have even went to OT. Joey should have a title and that is 1000% horseshit, my blood is still boiling on that match. I hope the refs know they won a match for Yianni on that one. That is the worst officiating I have seen in a long time at the NCAA level, Joey got robbed. I know he could have still have won, but there is no reason Joey should have been put in that position. The refs should be ashamed.

Then Mic got smoked. Same on Kollin...he was close on the scoreboard, but not really. Myles should have been in the finals getting his hand raised. We took runner-up and overall, great tournament. But the finals matches and not having a champion out of this group stings.

@RB07OSU - I need another break down for next year, with this year behind us. Lay it out for me.....also, to make you work for it....PSU, I have to assume next year will be a down (for them) year, losing Cassar, Sheed, Nolf, and Nickal. I mean they still have Hall, RBY, Joseph, Lee, and I'm sure some talented FR that they redshirted. Will the gap between us be closed a bit?
