not to be able to get a high profile name coach for the sport that probably generates the third highest when it comes to revenue is very embarrassing and Gene has done a very good job at not only embarrassing himself but the entire University.I don't know what options the University of Miami or University of Toledo women's basketball coaches are, but if Ohio State says whoever is hired was Option 1, that's a complete lie.
Dispatch says those were the two interviewed.
He previously codes at Xavier:) before taking the job at Washington.Ryan Autullo @AutulloBlade 8m I am told Washington's Kevin McGuff got the Ohio State job.
Seems like a good hire to me. Born and raised in Ohio, coached at Xavier.

was also an assistant at Notre Dame before taking the head-coaching position at Xavier. Pretty young and he knows the Midwest so maybe things will turn out okay. However, I would have liked Texas Gail:)Though it might be too late, considering the amount of Ohio talent in the top 60 of the Junior class, this seems to be a good thing.
http://buckeyextra.dispatch.com/con.../duke-assistant-tweets-hello-to-buckeyes.htmlJoy Cheek, an assistant coach on the Duke University women's basketball for the past two seasons, apparently is joining coach Kevin McGuff's new staff at Ohio State.
This from twitter: MT @CoachJoy21 Thoroughly enjoyed my experience at Duke & now am looking forward to joining the Buckeyes! Heard Columbus loves its Buckeyes!
Cheek played for Duke and joined the coaching staff in 2011 after spending one season in the WNBA and one overseas in Poland. She coached perimeter players for the Blue Devils and was one of two recruiting coordinators.
There is no official word from the Buckeyes.
Tanzania (Tangy) Williams confirmed that she is no longer the director of basketball operations for the team. Williams served in that capacity for the Buckeyes over the past five seasons.
Video coordinator Candace Dark, a former OSU player, also is not expected to return.
http://buckeyextra.dispatch.com/con...8/0618-sports-report-lead-art-goondqf3-1.htmlTo increase stagnant interest in women’s college basketball, a top official recommended wide experimentation with the rules and the NCAA Tournament, including holding the men’s and women’s Final Four at the same location on a one-time trial basis.
After a six-month study, Val Ackerman, a former president of USA Basketball and the WNBA, recommended that the NCAA also hold the women’s Final Four on the weekend after the men’s tournament to gauge its effects on the game’s popularity.
She also recommended that the women’s Final Four be held in the same city for multiple years, just as the college baseball World Series is held annually in Omaha, Neb.
The NCAA should consider using two sites instead of four for the women’s regional semifinals and finals to attract more fans and reduce costs, Ackerman said. And she recommended switching the women’s Final Four back to a Friday-Sunday format instead of the current Sunday-Tuesday format, reducing the number of weeknights that fans would have to travel.
To address declines in shooting and scoring, Ackerman advised that the rules should be re-examined to speed the game, reduce the physicality and make it easier for teams to score.
Division I women’s teams shot 38.9 percent from the field and 30.6 percent on three-point attempts last season. Both were all-time lows.
