Ohio State Women's Basketball (2023-24 B1G CHAMPS)

IN RARE COMPANY. Jacy Sheldon’s signature shoe has arrived.

In August 2024, Footwear Nation reported that the former Ohio State All-American guard signed a deal with Holo Footwear that offered her both equity in the company and a signature shoe line. Six months later, Sheldon’s first shoe, the JS:01, is here.

An equity deal can certainly be more lucrative than straight up cash. And a big IF, the line (and the company) hits it big. Never heard of Holo Footwear, but don't follow fashion much. Here's hoping Jacy (also) hits it big with Connecticut, and gets some big minutes. If not, she always has her tOSU job to fall back on. Sweet. PS, just a thought. Last year, Jacy and Celeste were like Energizer Bunnies, and appeared (to me at least), to have unlimited energy, chasing down opposition in the press. This year, not so much, and mayhaps that is why tOSU seems to run down in the late second half. PS, don't have the stats, but am betting that the TOs aren't as high this year from tOSU's press.

Well, Bestbuck, maybe McDuff is so desperate that he's reading BP on how to utilize his talent (at long last)! Haven't seen the game yet, (were watching the men get blown out), and when switched to Peacock, saw the 'game will be repeated shortly', and went to bed. Go Bucks!

Maybe it's just me, but Indiana simply shredded the vaunted tOSU press. Kept watching, and it seemed like our defenders 'just missed' or were a 'tad late' on Indiana's passes. To IU's credit, they spread out their people much more than have seen, but there was something else (even my wife mentioned it). Part of the press's succes was having Cotie and TT in the second line, with Jacy and Celeste up front. Jacy and Celeste seemed to have another quickness gear to them, and this edition does not. Putting Taylor and Cotie on the first line, they simply do not have the quickness, and that weakens the second line. Jaloni (who's still a freshwoman, guys), and whomever, simply don't have the anticipation that last year's duo had. Nothing against them, as their effort is evident, but they're not at Jacy/Celeste's level - yet. Ajai seems lost, and Elsa (who is the future), seems unsure of what to do - methinks she's afraid of making a mistake, so playing timid. Indy was a veteran team, while tOSU is a relatively young one. Were there TO's? Certainly, but am thinking that there were more lay-ups against the press than TO's. Chapter two will be rebounding position by the Buckeyes....go Bucks!

Prediction

Purdue is going to bring all they have against Ohio State, with players in recent weeks playing through injuries for coach Gearlds to try and get the Boilermakers into the Big Ten Tournament.

Ohio State will come out strong after their disappointment in Bloomington and force turnovers on the backcourt pairing of Lombard and Jones. The Buckeyes will pull away and Gray will have a better shooting performance to propel Ohio State over Purdue.

How to Watch

Date: Sunday, Feb. 23, 2025
Time: 12:00 p.m. ET
Where: Schottenstein Center, Columbus, Ohio
Television: Big Ten Network

LGHL Score Prediction: 86-61, Ohio State Buckeyes

Taking care of business today!
They came out focused. Rebounding, especially early, is the best I've seen this year.

Ohio State Rolls to 98-46 Victory over Purdue to Stay Unbeaten at Home

Ohio State, which honored Greene and Taylor Thierry in a pregame Senior Day ceremony before Sunday’s game, will play its final home game of the regular season on Wednesday at 7 p.m. against Michigan State. The Buckeyes’ home finale against the Spartans will be streamed on B1G+.

Thought there some interesting take-aways from the Purdue game. More to the point, how McDuff was mixing up his line-ups. Liked seeing Eboni and Elsa out there together. Lacked co-ordination between high post/low post play, but Eboni's doing some driving toward the hoop, plus 'walking out' the Purdue post was refreshing to see. Also saw Ajai and Eboni, but result was not as significant IMHO. Wish tOSU could bottle some of the shot-making that we saw, use it for some closer games. And, finally, Cotie looked a tad possessed, in that she was exhibiting some of the skills that took her to prominence, and Purdue had zero answers for her. When I complained (to wife) that there were starters out there during garbage time, she pointed out that tOSU has a short bench, what with four players not even taking their sweats off. Ava in a boot, and the reserve bigs out for whatever reason(s). Anyway, everyone got plenty of minutes, which is great, and maybe found a combination that clicked? Hopefully, we're starting to peak for B10 tourney, and the Dance.

Lady both Cambridge girls in this 4th quarter. Jaloni fouled out and Kennedy hurt which might be serious.

Fouls galore called in this one which just goes with the days shit referee experience. Heck of a finish for the regular season though in this tough matchup. 78 all with 30 seconds left
