Ohio State Women's Basketball (2023-24 B1G CHAMPS)

Not certain am adding anything different, but seems to be a great start for the Lady Bucks. Played alot of folks, and trying to find a cohesive starting 5, plus identifying subs that can pick up the game when called upon. Certainly Jeloni balled out, loved her stat line beyond points. Hope she can maintain throughout. Taylor and Cotie have nothing to prove, except for that nebulous 'leadership' portion of their existence. Wasn't able to watch the game, but will be looking for that. Also haven't gone into the stats, but certainly will when there's an opponent closer to tOSU level. Certainly seems like Maddie will start 'running the show', but that Jeloni will be forcing herself into minutes along the way. Great start, and we'll see how well things jell before we embark upon the B10 meatgrinder. Go Bucks! PS, from what I read, the bigs looked good as well.
It was a complete game really. The only thing I will be looking for is the poise and emotion being in check this season. Cotie might take a back seat to Jaloni now and that will be different for her. She nailed a few 3's last night so it looks like she's adapting already which is great. We need Taylor to just keep being Taylor, she does everything. The ball movement was excellent last night with a pivot at the foul line being a catalyst for several easy back cuts and layups. That is different from the way we attacked the last few years and having a 6'6" big player is a beautiful sight for sore eyes!

Wanted to say the B1G+ production was light years ahead of where they were the last time I watched it. It's like they hired people to actually do the job and the commercials weren't too intrusive. Honestly was a great watch all the way around last night.

The first or second paragraph about ANY Jaloni article starts with 'she joined her older sister at tOSU, who transferred there'. So getting big sis to come on down was first step, and even though big sis hasn't seen much of the court, she was impressed enough to help sell little sis. Probably having seen that Jacy was gone, which opened up a spot for her early on. Dunno, just trying to connect the dots have seen. Don't know about NIL, but would assume the #2 wbb recruit in the country, in a position of need, would garner a bit of coin thrown her way. After awhile, some erstwhile reporter will sit down with her and get her backstory, methinks. Then we'll hear what's what. Meanwhile, back at the ranch, Jaloni has made a big splash for the Lady Bucks. From what BestBuck said, the bigs played well (!), Maddy, Cotie, and Taylor did their usual dance as well. Hope these freshwomen don't hit the wall, from the HS 20+ games to the 30+ in the college ranks, and can handle the ups and downs of 'off' nights. Anyone heard about Katie coming to tOSU as asst coach? Go Bucks!

I haven't heard of anything regarding Katie Smith. That would be huge though.

When read that coach mention that he was going to wait until WNBA ended before filling the open Asst position, had hopes it'd be Katie. Guess it came true, no? Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful. She's certainly got the coaching experience (at the pro level), as well as playing 'in the league' that many recruits look for. Just wonder how she'll jell with McDuff. Kinda sorta feel like he's let the fox into the henhouse, if you get my drift. Watched her as Lynx coach, and she wasn't really animated, maybe the head coach had her tame it down? Anyway, let's see how well she recruits the HS 5*s...PS, getting Jacy was the cherry on the cupcake. Guess tOSU will cover her phone bill when she's down in Dallas, for her to keep in touch with tOSU players. Best I've felt about the women's team in quite some time. Go Bucks

31 from Chance is way cool. Two headed monster, methinks. And Cotie and Taylor not untracked yet. Guess they're showing senior leadership by playing a 'filler' role(s) on the team, doing the little things. Seriously, enjoy having two scorers, did they play together, or sepately? Also, the coaching bench must have looked waaay stronger with Buckeye All-Americans, past and not so past cheering the girls on. Did anyone happen to notice whether Katie or Jacy took a player aside during a break to coach them up? See it on the guy's side, but not the gal's. McDuff misses a chance there, am athinkin. Go Bucks!

Chance Gray Ties Ohio State’s Single-Game Record With Nine Made 3-Pointers in Ohio State’s 94-53 Win Over Charlotte

After Jaloni Cambridge stole the show in Ohio State’s season opener against Cleveland State, another Ohio State newcomer had a huge outing in the Buckeyes’ second game of the season against Charlotte.

In her second game as a Buckeye, Oregon transfer Chance Gray tied Ohio State’s school record by making nine 3-pointers, leading the Buckeyes to a 94-53 win over the 49ers.

Gray scored 31 pointers for the Buckeyes, shattering her previous career-high of 22 points at Oregon. Her nine threes on 14 attempts tied a record previously set by Kelsey Mitchell, who made nine threes on 20 attempts in a loss to Minnesota in 2015.
