Eboni Walker returns for final season, bringing depth in the paint

When Ohio State women’s basketball steps onto the court for the 2024-25 season, it’ll be without a mainstay in the paint in Rebeka Mikulášiková. The Slovakian’s five years ended with three seasons as head coach Kevin McGuff’s starting big. With her gone, not only do new players fill in, but how the Buckeyes operate near the basket could change.

Part of that conversation is Eboni Walker. In two seasons in scarlet and gray, Walker’s roles on-court have changed seemingly month-to-month. As McGuff’s most experienced big, does consistent play join the conversation in Walker’s final NCAA season?

Name: Eboni Walker
Position: Forward
Class: Graduate Senior
High School: Centennial High School (Las Vegas, Nevada)
2023-24 Stats: 2.4 ppg, 2.4 rpg, 1.2 apg, .442 FG%, .000 3FG%, .769 FT%

“I think when you guys watch us play early on, you're going to see a lot of talent out there and a decent amount of depth. But with so many newcomers, it's just when are we going to kind of get that chemistry and everybody kind of feeling comfortable doing what we do,” McGuff said this week as Ohio State started its first full week of practice. “Just watching them practice, I think we've got some talent, but just how quickly it all kind of comes together, it's a little bit of the unknown. So we're going to be really pushing them really hard here in the next month to make as much progress as we can.”

Going to be back in C'bus visiting with daughter for couple of weeks around Thanksgiving. Hopefully will be able to snag some tickets to go see this new edition of the Buckeye women. Should be a couple of games around then, hopefully. Gotta sand her deck and paint while back there, so no lack of things to do. will give a report when return. Go Bucks!

Let me know if you do and maybe we'll meet for a beverage before/after the game.

Awful lot of pigment in that photo, LOL!

Going to have to read up on #12 because this picture makes her look like a giant and that would be a definite plus if she plays like one.
Edit:
  • Averaged 15.8 points, 10 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 2.4 blocks in 27.9 minutes per game last season while shooting 54.7 percent from the field
  • Appeared in 27 games with 16 double-doubles and had a double-double in 10 of her final 11 games of the season in 2023-24
  • Played with Finland in the U18 European Championship, averaging 12.9 points, 9.0 rebounds and 2.0 blocks across six games in 2023.
  • She's listed at 6'6"
I don't know how good Finlands hoops are for women but those stats are awesome.

Four games will air on Big Ten Network and four games will air on Peacock. 13 other games will be broadcast on B1G+, the Big Ten’s official streaming service, while the Buckeyes’ Daytona Beach Classic will air on BallerTV, another streaming service.
