Game Thread Ohio State vs Oklahoma, 09/09/17 @ 7:30 ET (ABC)

This I don't understand. So all decorum or respect for your opponent just goes out the window when you score more points than they do.

Bull Fucking [Mark May].

Classless acts are classless acts whether you win or lose. Grow the fuck up and act like an adult and not some 12 year old dip[Mark May] on the playground.

100% agreed. Singing the alma mater with the band -- which the team was going to do either way -- warrants that kind of douchebaggery? Not likely. Fuck Baker Mayfield. I don't care how good of a QB he is, he goes up there with Jake F. Plummer and Drew F. Tate for most unlikeable little cocksuckers that OSU has played. And while I'm at it, fuck Zach Novak, too.

Yeah Baker went overboard but it's probably more us the fans that created this after game issue. We chanted O-H-I-O in there stand and we were there cheering as their stadium emptied.

All I know is when I believe Illinois did that in 07 that damn near created a all out brawl. This team needs some fire and some passion desperately... maybe seeing our field and great stadium get disrespected will give us a fucking edge for once.

You forgot Connor Cook.

Well, I wonder if KW doesn't trust JT's arm either, and maybe that bears on his play calling? I mean, why else would we not even attempt a toss up call from inside the 10 with a 6'4" receiver with great hands?
I absolutely agree JT's strengths and weaknesses are influencing play calling. Wilson has forgotten more football than 99.9% of Americans know and to think he doesn't see the same things we all see is ludicrous. Same with Urban. There may only be a handful of human beings on the planet that understand the game as well as he does, yet he may be the only human on the planet that doesn't understand JT needs benched.

He called the fade route against IU and JT got a touchdown to Ben Victor... it was a very poor throw though and JT was lucky the DB didn't keep his feet or that's a pick.

I do think Kevin is probably not calling certain plays because he knows we don't have the QB for it. I also think Kevin sees what we see but UFM either doesn't or somehow thinks JT can do what he hasn't done the past 3 years which is return to his freshman form.

God I remember when JT was a freshman I thought he would be unstoppable as a senior... it's a shame and I guess maybe I should've seen it coming with all the touch passes and swing passes we threw that year that boosted his stats. He was still better though then he is now.

There was at least one screen to a WR that was blown up early in the second half.

Try a simple 6-8 yd slant that Michael Thomas took to the house all the time. Or what happened to the skinny post to the TE that we used to run all the time as well? Just watched the cowboys highlights and the three passes I saw were slants to WR or TE. No reads, just drop back and throw.

Utterly ridiculous that we don't try the simple things. Our offense scheme looks nothing like the one from 2014 that Barrett flourished in. Barrett played worse in his 32nd start of his career than he did in the second start against VT. Feel really bad for him because I just don't see him turning this around.

Not sure if anyone remembers ABC pregame; they showed Ohio State warming up and the offense was running a 10 yd out and Barrett made a poor throw to Mack and he couldn't hang on. We can't even complete a simple pass against air. He seems to have lost all confidence and the limited ability he once had.

I remember that pregame throw... it didn't even make it to the WR though. It was an out route on air and JT threw it into the ground 2 yards in front of whoever the WR was.

You're right though... were is the slant we used to kill teams with? I remember against cincy, Maryland, Kent State that 14' season JT was on fire with that throw. Was drilling the ball in there and it really got his confidence up to make plays from there.

Yet we don't see a simple out route, no tunnel screens anymore, no touch passes, and hell we don't even motion people into the backfield much anymore to give us that diamond formation. In fact we motion our lone RB out of the backfield more often then not now which is hilarious because we never throw him the ball anyways, he now has to run 25 yards for no reason 10x a game, and it leaves JT with less pass protection.

Brilliant... just Brilliant. It's like we stop doing successful stuff and keep putting in shit that doesn't work.

You want insight? Here's some insight: The spring game provides no insight on how the team is going to perform during the season. Bam out front should have told you.

Spring game is useful for comparing players based on their performance under simulated conditions, but not as a predictor of overall team performance during the season.

Or exactly the point I was making

I dunno, the spring game was pretty prophetic in the areas that the team is currently struggling with right now. JT struggling to pass while our pass defense is porous at best. Actually for the past couple of years our springs games have been very insightful.

Lots of work to be done on both offense and defense.
My thought is the 2 past years were a hindrance to offense development. We are playing "catch up" on development.
And on defense we lost our 3 best guys in the secondary. And we are seeing, of course a big drop off in talent. It goes without saying the 3 defensive backs who left were all immensely talented.
Bottom line....like Urban said is "it's a long season" and we will get to work and there is plenty of talent on this team to have a great season.
