Game Thread Ohio State vs Northwestern, 10/29/16, 3:30pm ET ESPN/WatchESPN

And probably most importantly, there are chinks in the armor on the OL. I am not tracking what we are doing and I certainly trust the coaches, but...we have a freak 6'7 athlete playing RT instead of LT. We have a 6'4 solid OL that is built like an interior OL playing LT. We have what seems to be a natural RT in Michael Jordan playing guard. And on the topic of Jordan, he is getting beaten badly on a regular basis. He has the talent, but we really need to let Knox/Lisle/someone else get a chance in an actual game situation and see what happens, because he is just not getting it done. There was a reason there was concern that a true freshman was starting on our OL and that fear has become a reality. But you can't pick on him too much, every player else not named Pat Elflein seems to be having issues on the OL. But Jordan is sticking out to me.

Agree with the majority of your thoughts but I have no problem with where the OL are lined up. Jones is the better tackle. If Prince was protecting JT's blindside, JT may be in a coma right now. He's plenty big enough to play tackle at 6'5 too. Jordan may be built like a RT but that would kick Prince off the lineup because no way is he built to play guard. If Lisle, Burrell, or Knox(when healthy) were better options than Jordan, they'd be playing.

Bad playcalling and bad execution in the pass game are making the OL look worse than they are.

There are two really glaring deficiencies, to me. One, the OL is terrible. It just is. I wouldn't trust them to hold up against an FCS team right now. They're young, I get that...but the crap we're seeing is to be expected in September. Going into November, you should start seeing improvement...but they seem.to be getting worse by the week.

JT holds onto the ball all damn day. He gets a ton of time. The OL can't pass it for him. Now whether that's JT not finding receivers or receivers not getting open, I'm not sure. Probably a little of both. But I vehemently disagree with the level of blame you're placing on the OL. They've held up well despite loaded boxes and an inept passing game, excluding the end of the psu game

My, admittedly ignorant, frustration is the amount of play changes made at the line of scrimmage. It's like the guys in the box are over-thinking which is leading to the players overthinking. Just go full blown tempo, get the opposing defense off-kilter and attack. That's where relentless effort from A=>B can have a significant impact in my IMO.

My equally ignorant ass keeps thinking this too. Mainly, because Urban keeps saying he wants to go fast, yet they don't.

Pass blocking has been adequate. I think the run blocking hasn't been very good...and they're prone to too many damn Shugarts. Typically right after a good play, effectively killing momentum.

At the end of the day, it is the coaches job to put the team in a position to be successful. I can't say that I see that from this staff. The issues are glaring, yet the coaches continue to do the same thing series after series, game after game. In most circles that is the definition of insanity....

I liked what I saw from Weber this week, especially in the beginning and end of the game. He was plowing over guys and breaking tackle in one on one situations. He looked alittle quicker than before too. This might be the best he has been all year. He was fighting alot more than I saw from him in past games. I was hard on his play last week but I think this is the sweet spot for the amount of touches he should get unless he take another jump forward.

Other than Weber improving, I didn't see that much to like especially in the second half. The play calling has been bad. The beginning of the game seemed scripted which was fine but they had nothing original for the second half. They don't seem to want to set up plays with previous plays or using plays that work till they stop it. Plays calling has become very predictable.

Under Herman we saw how important alignment of hand offs and screen were to getting plays to break open. On jet sweeps and screen guys seem to get the ball very east/west and have to make a 90 degree cut to get up field. Cutting those angles down so it's easier for players to get up the field would help alot. I'm ready for Tim Beck to move on so we can get someone who is more innovative and progress the offense with Urban Meyer. I feel like Herman wanted to expand the playbook constantly and Meyer was fully on board with helping do that. Tim Beck and Warinner seem to be content with the playbook and seem to be shrinking it week by week.

Two, the WRs are a clown show. Aside from Brown against OU, not one.of them has done [Mark May] all year. There's not a single guy I can look at and say "he's gonna be good next year." Many of them were highly rated recruits, so somebody should be able to do something at some point. Not one of these guys would have been in the two deep the past couple of years. Hard to go downfield when you have zero trust in your receivers to make a play.

Maybe this is just my delirium talking after seeing a WR catch a pass for more than 8 yards, but I think KJ Hill could be quite good down the road.

Other than that, they're easily the most disappointing unit. Brown has good hands and should be a consistent target for the next few years, but everyone else should be a backup. Hoping Mack and Victor take that next step in the off season.

It's good to see KJ getting some touches. At this point, I don't know why at least Mack isn't getting some playing time.
