Observations:
- A win is a win
- Very frustrated with the inability to make adjustments on both sides of the ball
- From youth, to penalties, to play calling, we need to improve on all levels.
- Surprised that our DL did not do better.
- Special teams remain a concern. CAM made a few nice punts but one was blocked and we are not effective in
the return game at all.
- We need to see more blitz packages when we are not getting pressure on the QB
- Less predictability on Offense please
- With all our speed I'm dumbfounded on why we can't get separation at the receiver positions
- JT played well overall. He made some nice throws and his feet sealed the victory
- Brown made some nice catches and the block at the end of the game was sweet
- Samuel had another good game and remains our "go to" guy
- Webber did well with his limited opportunities. Love that he is a hard runner.
- Elfein continues to play at a high level
- Everyone needs to work very hard this week if they want to beat Nebraska

Pass blocking: B+ completely without studying film and going by my recollection, the pass pro was good enough to get the job done tonight. Barrett especially had lots of time to work his progressions as the game wore on.

Run blocking: C- It was kind of a meh game from beginning to end. There were plays that were blocked well and they worked. There were plays that were blocked badly and they worked, and there were plays that were blocked well that didn't work. The improvement to win in November and in the pie-in-the-sky hope that this team makes it to the playoffs has to start along the lines. They aren't there yet.

D-Line: B There was pressure at times and there was lots of penetration against the run game, especially when they tried to pull linemen. Ohio State has a marked weakness when times line up and blast away. This is important - scUM will do EXACTLY that.

LBs: B on the strength of McMillian's tip for an INT and a few key tackles. There wasn't a spectacular performance otherwise, but sometimes that happens against a team like Northwestern.

DBs: B - They can do better and certainly Arnette was picked on. I hope someone programs as counter to the 4-5 win run inside slants play we saw tonight. scUM and Nebraska will run that all night. Northwestern should have as well.

Special Teams Punting: D - another partially blocked kick and a few punts were either not covered right or weren't deep enough. Another facet that must improve.

Special Teams Kicking: A - No complaints. 1 FG. 3 XPs. No huge returns or mistakes on the kick off game. No complaints here.

Overall: B - there are lots of facets where improvements can be made. There MUST be improvement for this team to remain competitive against the main competition in November (Nebby, MSU, scUM). I'm not going to dive into what the coaches can or should have done differently.

When your speed option doesn't attack the LOS, it's going to get strung out and stopped.....

When we've run speed option the last three weeks, a safety has always come flying down to the line of scrimmage that we can't block. We have to work in some constraint plays to punish defenses for doing that. We called a reverse off the option look that went for huge yards because the safety was so far out of position, but then never called it again. Speed option play action might get us a touchdown.
