While true, keep in mind that in 2016 we dominated that game almost the entire time except when they got that blocked FG TD. Last year, we gifted them great field position several times and the special team gave up the game-opening kickoff TD. In other words, Penn State rarely, if ever, outplays us. Minimize/eliminate mistakes and execute the way we're capable of, and we win this game relatively comfortably...Two years ago: Bucks led by 14 going to the 4th...lost by 3.
Last year: Lions led by 15 going to the 4th...lost by 1.
It ain't over 'til it's over.
I also look at who each of their opponents have beaten:
App State, only win is against Charlotte (Gardner-Webb game cancelled by hurricane?)
Pittsburgh, only wins are against FCS Albany and Georgia Tech
Kent State, only win is against FCS Howard
Illinois, only wins are against Kent State and FCS Western Illinois
So, out of six wins by Pedster opponents so far, three of them are against FCS teams, and one against a P5 team that is currently 1-2.
True, but our best opponent (TCU) is markedly better than their best opponent (Pitt). I think our 54.5 ppg is a bit more impressive than their 55.5 ppg, plus we've only had one "meh" half while they've had at least two (I discount the second half of the Tulane games seeing as it was essentially Tate and the bench). We've come out and blew three of four teams into the weeds from the opening KO while the Pedsters have done so once.I guess, though, they could also look at who each of OSU's opponents have beaten:
Oregon St.: only win is against FCU Southern Utah (and they've lost to Nevada)
Rutgers: only win is against Texas St. (and they've gotten blasted by Kansas and Buffalo)
TCU: only wins are against FCS Southern and SMU
Tulane: only win is against FCS Nicholls (and they've lost to UAB)

The last time Ohio State lost to Penn State, they still got into the college football playoffs.
The last two times Ohio State beat Penn State, they didn't get into the college football playoffs.

Ohio State didn’t play TCU in Happy Valley....Especially after our dogfight with TCU in Jerryworld.
Weird. With the way commentators kept saying "white out" last weekend, I figured all of those assholes wearing the same color turned that erector set stadium into some kind of thunderdome death pit.
