Ohio State Now "Other Ohio Team"

Hahaha...

I do have a question to ask ORD...evertime a negative thread is started regarding UC, you're the thread starter...what is your infatuation with UC and UC fans?

He doesn't discriminate against Cincy. Most of the negative threads about Ohio or Miami, OH are also started by him.

So...they're crybaby attention whores?

possibly, if that's how you care to look at it. UC competes with OSU, the Bengals, the Reds and Xavier basketball all in this city...not to mention the proximity to UofL and UK.
OSU doesn't have to deal with that nor has it ever had to deal with that. So, yes, I guess they are attention whores heading to the Orange Bowl no matter how bad the Big East is...in football.

For the record, not that anybody really cares, Gilliard is also the guy who sleped in his car for a year and put himself through school by working two jobs until he got his scholarship back. He was also the same player who consoled the kid he crashed into trying to make a play in the South Florida game. He's been a model citizen in Clifton and has put up very good numbers this year. Could UC hang with OSU? nope, no chance. Do they have a reason to feel good about themselves this year. Absolutely...Do they have a right to trash talk OSU? well, as many of you like to point out, Cincinnati is part of Kentucky and there aren't any OSU fans down here...well, there are a TON of OSU fans down here and that's why the players feel the need to lash out at OSU. OSU still gets more attention down here.

Why the animosity directed towards OSU? You'd think that UC would direct all of its anger towards a 7-4 (3-3 in the "Big" East) unranked UConn team that ripped the Bearcats.

Start with the 60s when Ohio State wouldn't schedule UC in basketball, especially after losing to the Bearcats in two NCAA final game match-ups. Carry through to Earl Bruce's comments about "Cincinnati kids" that cost the school any recruting footing during most of the 80s. Throw in competition for the same kids in basketball recruiting aznd now, to a lesser degree, for football also. Continue through to today when the Buckeyes won't give them a home and home match up in either sport.

While this (the Bearcats new attitude) is over reaching, some of the problem has its roots in Columbus.

As well we shouldn't. Ohio State should NEVER play another state university away from Ohio Stadium. Bring one per year into Columbus for a payday? Fine. That, however, should be the extent of it.

Just make friendly wagers with all of your Cincinnati friends who think they are the new team from Ohio. $500 straight up to whoever wins the next football national championship. See if they actually believe the rhetoric they spew.

while UC has never tasted a football national championship, OSU's one in 30+ years is not exactly a dominating trend, either.

Not OSU bashing, as most will accuse me of, but merely stating a fact.

Programs with multiple national titles in the past 30 years:
Alabama
USC
Miami
Nebraska
LSU
Penn State
Oklahoma
Florida
Florida State

Not exactly a long list.

so you would take that bet?

I'm not spewing the rhetoric to which you speak. Odds are that OSU will win another before UC because UC has never won a football national championship. With the Big East possibly splitting in a couple of years (the rumor has the non football playing schools leaving to form another conference) and the uncertainty of the BE's BCS affiliation, it would be foolhardy to make that bet.
