livestats

McCarthy and Novak on #2 vs. Washington.
Allare and Uzawa on court #1 vs. Auburn.
Pro set to 8 games win by two, matches can go very fast.
I believe court #2 has us playing Texas A&M maybe not because they're growing so fast:) my error Texas A&M must be the second match against another school which I have ready forgotten:(

According to the website from the ITA central, Two Buckeyes are playing tomorrow in the first round of the main draw of the All American ITA tournament in Tulsa, OK.

Freshman Blaz Rola who advanced through the qualifying tournament will face off with the #11 ranked player in the NCAA's Austin Krajicek of Texas A&M. Their first round single's match is scheduled for 8 am.

Also scheduled to compete is the #5 ranked single's player in the NCAA rankings, Buckeye Chase Buchanan. Coincidentally he will also face a Texas A&M athlete Jeff Dadamo at 10 am.

In the double's tournament Matt Allare and Shuhei Uzawa advanced to the main draw through the qualifiers. Unfortunately they drew the #2 line on the draw sheet which means they are matched up against the #1 ranked team in the NCAA's, Reid Carlton and Henrique Cuhna of Duke. The match is scheduled for 6:30 pm.

The other Buckeye double's team Chase Buchanan and Blaz Rola will match up with the #7 ranked Kentucky duo Brad Cox and Eric Quigley at 6 pm.

Fans can monitor the action on Livestats from Tulsa.

Don't want my BP friends to overdose on Buckeye tennis,
but I don't find much other media coverage on this highly successful and 5 time defending Big Ten champion OSU team.
After the NCAA tournament in May, the ITA All American Tournament is arguably the 2nd most prestigious tournament in college tennis.
This is the recap of the action at Tulsa to date from the official OSU tennis site.

After five days of pre-qualifying and qualifying at the 2010 D'Novo/ITA All-American Championships, main draw singles and doubles action will get underway Thursday. The Ohio State men's tennis team boasts two singles participants, as well as a pair of doubles teams at the prestigious ITA event held at the Case Tennis Center in Tulsa, Okla.
Blaz Rola, a freshman from Ptuj, Slovenia, survived the qualifying draw and will begin Thursday bright and early with an 8 a.m. CT start vs. No. 11 Austin Krajicek of Texas A&M. No. 5 Chase Buchanan will also begin his bid for the singles title against an Aggie when he starts play at 10 a.m. CT against Jeff Dadamo.
Rola and Buchanan will then be back out on the courts Thursday evening as the two will pair up at 6 p.m. CT to take on No. 7 Brad Cox and Eric Quigley of Kentucky.
The duo of Matt Allare and Shuhei Uzawa won three consecutive matches, including a victory over sixth-seed Drake Bernstein and Javier Garrapiz of Georgia, 8-6, in their opening match, to continue on to the main draw. Allare and Uzawa will face No. 1 Reid Carleton and Henrique Cunha of Duke at 6:30 p.m. CT Thursday.
Allare came one win of making an appearance in the singles main draw. Following back-to-back wins in the qualifying round, the Mason, Ohio, native dropped a 6-4, 6-1 decision to Chris Kearney of UC Irvine. In his opening match, Allare downed No. 7 Luka Somen of Virginia Tech, 7-6, 6-4.
Junior Devin McCarthy also nearly made a successful run in the qualifying bracket, which included a 6-4, 7-5 win over No. 13 Tucker Vorster of Mississippi. However, in the next match, the Cincinnati, Ohio, native lost a hard-fought 6-3, 1-6, 4-6 match to No. 2 Artem Baradach of SMU.
Peter Kobelt, a Central Ohio product out of New Albany, won four-straight matches in pre-qualifying and qualifying action before eventually falling, 2-6, 6-2, 4-6 to Oklahoma's Tsvetan Mihov. . .

First up today for the Buckeyes in the ITA All American tournament was Freshman Blaz Rola from Slovenia.
Rola had a break point in the first set but dropped serve to allow the #11 ranked Austin Krajicek of Texas A&M to win in a tie breaker 7-3.
Rola came back strong in the 2nd set with a dominant 6-1 set.
The livestats feed stuck for 15 minutes with Rola winning 4-3 in the 3rd set then recycled to 0-0 in preparation for the next match.
How frustrating to leave Buckeye fans hanging until the ITA singles draw sheet showed the final score.

6-7, 6-1, 6-3

for the Good Guys.
Congratulations Blaz Rola!
Welcome to tOSU and NCAA tennis.
We are counting on you to make a difference, would love for you to finish your career here and when you leave be able to tell your kids that in your time at tOSU you defeated TSUN 4 straight years and set the consecutive winn mark for Big Ten Championships at 9 straight for Ty Tucker.
Next up for Rola is Drew Courtney from UVa at around 2pm.
Chase Buchanan is presently on the court against Jeff Dadamo of Texas A&M. LIVESTATS
Go Bucks!

Livestats posted Chase Buchanan with the victory in 3 sets over Dadamo, 4-6, 7-5, 6-3.
Hope that is right because the draw sheet lists Dadamo with the 6-4, 7-5 victory. :frown2:

okay the drawsheet is now changed and Buchanan is listed as the winner.

Rola and Buchanan will play their 2nd round matches this afternoon.
Buchanan vs. Rhyne Williams of TN.
Rola vs. Courtney of UVa.
Of note the #1 seed J. P. Smith of UTenn lost to hometown Marcelo Arevalo of Tulsa.

down at this moment 4-6, 3-4(I am anticipating a come back) that website is so slow it is painful

Rola's come back didn't materialize, as he dropped the match 6-4,6-4.
I have to think that Rola was getting close to the fatigue level at the end of 4 straight days of matches.
Chase also had a long grueling match and persevered but unfortunately could not overcome.
Doubles is not as demanding physically so Blas and Chase may be able to put together some quality play against the Kentucky duo scheduled for 6:30.

Go Bucks!:oh:

Rola and Buchanan provided the upset of the #7 seeded pair from Kentucky, and advanced to the round of 16 tomorrow by an impressive 8-3 score. tomorrow they will face an Oklahoma State team and if victorious will play the quarterfinals Friday night.

Shuhei and Allare did not fare as well.
Facing the #1 seeds in the NCAA from Duke, the second Buckeye doubles tandem dropped an 8-4 match.

Friday's double's round of 32 match features OSU's Chase Buchanan and Blas Rola vs. Aleksey Bessonov-Rifat Biktyakov, from Oklahoma State.

Also playing today is Matt Allare in the main draw single's consolation.
Allare was the recipient of a lucky loser entry into the consolation bracket when Kearney of UC Irvine withdrew because of injury.
Allare promptly won his first round consoltion match and is scheduled for the 2nd round on court 5 at 9am Friday.

Allare put things together after a rough start and posted a 4-6, 6-2, 6-2 victory in the 2nd round of the consolation tournament.
In the quarterfinals tomorrow, he will face the #1 ranked player in the NCAA's J. P. Smith of U. Tenn.

Allare and Shuhei will also play in the consolation doubles draw this afternoon at 2pm.

The big story of the All American Tournament has to be Alex Domijan, a freshman at Virginia, who has surrendered only 3 games per match so far.
He knocked off the #2 seed Henrique Cuhna this morning, 6-2, 6-1.
