Buchanan is going to be one tired individual playing both sides of the net:wink:

Three Buckeyes earned an invitation for the ITA Indoor Nov. 5-6 at New York!

In the semis vs. King, Chase missed a lot of serves and made multiple unforced errors in the 2nd and 3rd sets, but King was all over the court and had an answer for everything Buchanan hit.
Rola did avenge King's w over Buchanan.
Blaz with a strong performance against a talented TSUN athlete.
Final was 6-3, 6-4 with Rola garnering the Midwest region title and auto selection for the ITA Indoor.
In the double's final;
Buchanan and Kobelt defeated Smith and Rola to gain the invitation to the USTA/ITA Indoor championship at Flushing Meadows, NY.

Recap of the ITA Midwest region championship round from the OSU tennis site.

Blaz Rola, a member of the Ohio State men's tennis team, wrapped up his successful run at the 2011 USTA/ITA Division I Men's Midwest Regional Championships by capturing his second consecutive regional title. Rola, the top seed in the draw, defeated Evan King of Michigan 6-3, 6-4 Monday at the Varsity Tennis Center in Columbus. The sophomore's victory marked the fifth time in six seasons a Buckeye has captured the singles crown and the first time in history an Ohio State player has claimed the honor in back-to-back seasons.
Peter Kobelt also earned consecutive regional championship honors, defeating teammates Rola and Connor Smith 8-3 in the doubles final with partner Chase Buchanan. Last season, Kobelt won the doubles championship with then-senior Matt Allare. With both wins, it is the second consecutive season Ohio State has won both the singles and doubles titles at the Midwest Regional.
The Scarlet and Gray netters went an impressive 41-12 in main draw singles and doubles competition throughout the regional. Four of the losses came due to the fact the matches pitted Buckeyes against each other on both sides of the net.
With the victories, Rola, as well as Buchanan and Kobelt have qualified for the 2011 ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships, which will take place Nov. 3-6 in Flushing, N.Y. The tournament serves as the second of three premier national collegiate tennis events. . .

Up next, the Buckeyes will continue fall tournament action in split-squad fashion. Some members of the team will travel to Iowa City, Iowa, for the 2011 Big Ten Indoor Singles Championships, while others will make the trip to Charlottesville, Va., for a USTA Challenger. Both tournaments will be held Oct. 28-31.

Selections for the ITA National Indoor championship Nov. 3-6 at Flushing Meadows NY, include 2 Buckeye single's players and 1 OSU doubles team.

Blaz Rola earned an automatic ITA National Indoor single's selection with his victory at the Midwest regional single's tournament in Columbus, Oct. 17.
Fellow Buckeye Chase Buchanan will also join Rola in New York as an at large selection in the 32 member singles main draw.

With their victory at the prestigious ITA All American Tournamtent, OSU's Buchanan and Rola received an invitation to the 20 team double's main draw at the ITA Indoors.
Buchanan and Peter Kobelt also earned an auto selection in the double's field by virtue of their championship at the Midwest Regional, but it appears the ITA prefers Rola and Buchanan to represent the Bucks!
This weekend (Oct. 27-31) some of the Buckeye squad will be traveling to the Big Ten indoor championships in Iowa.
Others look to be heading to the Charlottesville Challenger, a USTA sponsored pro futures event.
Will update the tennis forum when the official site has info on who will be playing in each this weekiend.

I can't believe that Kobelt would be very happy being left out of the chance of playing in New York with the big boys but I guess Buchanan can't play 2 doubles and singles.

Yep Litl, would have liked to see Peter included in the draw, if only to expand the Buckeye representation.
Allare and Kobelt were selected last year.
There are no Buckeyes included in the Big Ten Indoor tournament draw at Iowa City.
Looks as if most of the other ranked players in the B1G are no shows/not participating at Iowa.

OSU Sophomore Blaz Rola earned a selection in the qualifying draw of the ATP $75k Charlottesville Challenger. He will face Jarmere Jenkins in the first round of the qualifier, Saturday 10 am.
Blaz will be seeking to avenge a loss in the 2nd round of the ITA All American tournament when Jenkins upset the #2 seeded Rola.
To advance to the main draw, a qualifier will need to win three matches.

Tough, tough competition in this pro futures tournament and qualifier!

The draws are posted for the ITA/USTA National Indoor tournament.
Buckeye's Blaz Rola and Chase Buchanan were seeded #3 and #6 respectively in the single's main draw.
The ITA indoor draw is LOADED with talent. Upsets are likely -- seeds dropping early -- highly predictable. Would love to see either of the Buckeyes represent the S&G well and take a deep run in the tourney.

ITA single's draw

Buckeye's doubles team of Rola and Buchanan are seeded #2 in the double's draw. Te draw sets up well for advancing--they drew a First round bye and round of 16 match (vs. Princeton). i.e. seems comparatively easy when looking at the challenge of other seeds and ranked teams.
Doubles matches are decided by a pro set (first to 8 games). One loose service game can be difficult to make up against a quality opponent.

ITA double's draw

Enjoy your last year at Flushing Meadow, Chase!
Represent well your Buckeye nation! Go Bucks!
