FRED SQUILLANTE dispatch
Sophomore Konrad Warzycha of Dublin Jerome is expected to be a key playmaker at forward as the Buckeyes aim for another College Cup appearance.
As Ohio State waited for its flight home from the College Cup final last December, coach John Bluem did a quick check on the psyche of his team.
The pain from a 2-1 loss to Wake Forest still numbed, but Bluem saw little wallowing. Instead, there were a few smiles mixed with some tears. Even a joke or two was told.
"Everybody had realized at that moment already what a great season we had," Bluem said. "Yeah, we fell short, but it was an incredible experience for everybody."
Losses in national title games don't fade quickly, but the Buckeyes knew they couldn't dwell on the defeat for long. The team had reached the summit in men's soccer and expectations had changed. Goals had to be rethought.
"(Going to the College Cup) raised the bar even higher, which I think is a good thing, and means this program is going in the right direction," said senior Patrick Roan, a Westerville North graduate. "We're accepting the challenge."

Ohio State – grudgingly, no doubt – decided to follow in the footsteps of several other major colleges by announcing that admittance to home games for men’s and women’s soccer games and men’s and women’s gymnastics meets will now be free.
In essence, OSU now has 24 sports on its “admission is free” list.
