Ohio State Men's Lacrosse (2013 ECAC Champions)

Team is young and they have some scorers with Alexander, Schuss and Tundo all sophomores. Freshman Tyler Frederick has looked good too. This team will be real tough to beat in the coming years.

San Clemente midfielder Bennett Jonas will sign a national letter on Wednesday to play lacrosse at Ohio State University, his father, Jeff, said Tuesday.

He has been offered a scholarship to play lacrosse at Ohio State in 2012.

Jonas has started on the varsity all three years and last year earned first team all-league and all-county honors. He is also a corner back on the varsity football team.

Jonas was offered scholarships from Syracuse University, Denver University and Stony Brook University and a number of other Division 1 programs, his father said.

Last summer, Jonas was invited by the U.S. National Team to be one of 120 of the top under-19 players in the United States to try-out for the U.S. National Team in Baltimore, MD.

He was not selected for the first team but was selected to be on the alternate midfielder list for the world games the summer of 2012 in Finland. Jonas was also selected and played on the FCA National Team which selected one team from the entire United States to compete in the Lake Placid, N.Y. Lacrosse Nationals which his team won this past summer.

The Bucks are tied with 5th ranked Denver 8-8 after 3 quarters.

OSU is playing without their starting goalie and the ECAC Defensive POY, who are out due to injury. Denver was a Final Four team last year. A win here would be huge for our club.

Buckeyes get a great 10-9 win over a final four team from a year ago.

OSU offense has quite a bit of firepower. It seemed OSU put the ball in the back of the net whener they got Denver's defense off balance. 2 man up goals and at least 1 transition goal. They did struggle at times to get the defense moving. Part of that has to be attributed to Denver's defense. OSU also looked to posses the ball throughout the game, which was frustrating at times. But man did it pay off in the end of the game. They did a great job running the clock out at the end of the game. 4-5 mins in one possesion.

Logan Schuss is a beast of an attackmen. Dude just knows how to score from the wing.

Backup goalie Spencer played a great, fundamentally sound game. And he started a fast break that led to a huge goal.

I don't really follow lax, so could someone explain how good we usually tend to be? I'm trying to feign knowledgeability for my lax-bro friends

Simply, we're good, not great. Getting better. Competing in LAX is a difficult thing as the sport is so East Coast driven and there are a few traditional powerhouses.

As the sport grows to the west the more competitive we'll become over time. I'm seeing this as a youth coach in the Chicagoland area. Each year we have about 20% growth in our overall program and it's really starting to bite into the numbers of the baseball program (and they're getting pissed about it). Having played 20+ years ago at the club level, it's wonderful to see the the program progress as it has.

Six OSU women's lacrosse players have the kidney ailment, rhabdomyolysis, that affected the Iowa football team one spring ago.

Kaeding does not anticipate any long-term consequences for those athletes and they are past the point of major concern for kidney damage
