Game Thread Ohio State at Penn State, 10/22/16, 8:00pm ET ABC/WatchESPN

True, I have just yet to see what Webber brings to the table to be effective over the long run if the coaching staff wants to give him starting RB number of carries. Is his ceiling Boom Herron? I don't even see him hitting that because of his speed and lack of yards after contact.

I don't know who you've been watching, but it's not Weber because what you said doesn't link up with reality.

Weber's been damn solid in his first year. Not the problem dude

Can anyone else find a conference that gives their premier team back to back road night games against good teams (supposedly) coming off of a bye, and then give them a referee screw job to boot?

Alabama faced six opponents coming off a bye week a few years ago.
True. For the most part in the early going I thought the line was solid, especially in pass pro. When the Penn State dline got to pin their ears back, our young line suffered for it.

It's going to take some growing up, a hard look in the mirror by the coaches, playing with fire and a change in early down play calls.

When the D-line starts pinning its ears back, maybe call a pumpkin screen or a draw. Ffs. It's football, not rocket science. Stevie Wonder could see those sacks coming.

The very fact that Warriner is in the booth is the most damning thing when it comes to Beck.

The offense is fucked. I have no idea how they're going to get unfucked. Actually, strike that. I DO know how to get them unfucked. Get rid of Beck, get a guy in the booth who has a freaking clue, and get Warriner back on the sideline, so he can, you know, actually coach his unit.

The fact that Beck returned this year is a travesty.

Edit: I just saw that JT had 43 pass attempts tonight.
Curtis Samuel had TWO rushing attempts.
What the actual fuck.

What does Webber do great? Block? He doesn't have top end speed and I have yet to see the power he was suppose to have out of high school. He has balance problems and gets taken down way to easily. Of the starting RBs of the last 10 years at OSU, I wouldnt take him over anyone else. He has looked like an average college football RB not an average buckeye RB. If the coaching staff wanted to control the game by running the ball today, they had a better option in Samuel.

Guy averages 6.5 yards a carry. Maybe he needs the ball more. I see nothing that resembles wearing a defense out, keeping a defense honest, or making them pick a poison so to speak in our offensive play calling. Just when I think we're going to grind on an opposing defense, out comes a drive ending play call, followed next by the offensive series of WTF & out. Much like any other play calls that seem to be made, if Weber is having some success, he doesn't get a touch for another series or so. I love me some Curtis Samuel but he's a victim of the play calling as well. If you are going to get him the ball at the last possible second, at least make it 40 yards downfield in a one on one situation. Waiting until there are 3 defenders, a sideline, and being behind the LOS is just dumb in my book. Get the ball in his hands fast and let him do his thing instead of slowing him down so the defenders can catch up. Hell at this point I'm not even sure why we run a spread offense. Seems like a third of the plays go against everything the spread is designed to do anyway.I mean isn't the idea to have a mismatch on every single play? It's not like I'm hearing about a receiver being open on every play. I don't even hear it 2-3 times a game. It sure doesn't seem like anything we do is confusing the defense anymore. I'll admit I'm a little grumpy at the moment, but it's not over the kids on this team.

Talking about homeruns. I hate baseball. It would seem to me however that this offense needs to be a little more consistent getting the singles and doubles. The homeruns will work themselves out after that.

Ah...now I see how the play calling is determined.

This "Webber" guy sounds like a shitty RB. I'm just glad we have Mike Weber, because he is the exact opposite of the RB you're talking about.

Ever get the feeling we could just copy and paste these discussions from the, well, there's a list, right?

From: The MSU B1G title game, the Clemson bowl game, the VA Tech game, the MSU in the Shoe game. Seems like the same basic questions are always there, and only the names change to protect the culpable.

3 of your 4 examples happened with a different offensive coordinator. Those were "reasons" to FIRE HERMAN?!...or was it FIRE FICKEL!?

6 losses in almost 6 years and a national title tells me that while frustration is understandable, Urban Meyer should get the benefit of the doubt

Where did I specify it was about firing anyone, Kyle? There were a lot of other things said after those games than who should be fired. For example, why wasn't ____________ player given the ball? Hyde, Zeke, fill-in-the-blank tonight. It seems like some of the same brain freeze occurs in these games periodically. I'd love to know the cause and the cure for its recurrence.

Why don't we ever see McCall anymore?

Very frustrating end to the game. Still in shock about that rushed FG attempt only to get blocked and returned for the GW TD.

Good thing is that we still control our own destiny, IMO. Win the rest of the regular season games and we're right back in the same position as 2014.

Again, night game wins at OU and UW...they are no longer "young".

This ain't on the kids. It's on the coaches. JT threw 43 passes! He was sacked six times, so that's 49 pass attempts from a RUNNING team that was in control for 47 minutes! Curtis Samuel had two (two!) rushing attempts!

There is no balance, there is no continuity, there is no rhyme, there is no reason.

I really should stop reading and replying. It's MSU last year all over again. Urban is placing way too much trust in his assistants, and there's no oversight or overview.

Ditch the scrublord OC. Get A REAL OC. Get your OL coach out of the booth. Let him actually coach his unit. Get a new WR coach. Get a new QB coach.

When UFM first came to Columbus, he said that his goal was to have the best staff on the country. He doesn't. Not even close. Tim Beck is making 750k. He ain't worth 34k. And his ineptitude is multiplied by the fact that Warriner is in the booth, where he can't even coach his unit up.

Ditch Zack Smith as well. Other than '14, that unit has been the same clown show that it's been since '12.

This team has not attacked since the Oklahoma game. It's disgusting.

I remember reading somewhere that Urban doesn't believe in firing assistants... I hope it was just a tongue in cheek comment because we need a change. Yeah, I'm intoxicated and my blood is still boiling but this shit is unbelievable. Goodnight and go Bucks!
