Game Thread Ohio State at Penn State, 10/22/16, 8:00pm ET ABC/WatchESPN

After last night's game, Weber's average is down to 5.9 yards per carry.

Here is Weber's production on a game-by-game basis:

BGSU: 19 carries, 136 yards, 7.2 average
Tulsa: 17 carries, 92 yards, 5.8 average
Oklahoma: 18 carries, 123 yards, 6.8 average
Rutgers: 14 carries, 144 yards, 10.3 average
Indiana: 15 carries, 71 yards, 4.7 average
Wisconsin: 11 carries, 46 yards, 4.2 average
Penn State: 21 carries, 71 yards, 3.4 average

In his last three games, Weber has 47 carries, 188 yards, 4.0 average. Not good, and not worthy of more carries.
I think Weber has been pretty good. Last night was his only real rough game and we know how badly the offensive line got abused. He is a great pass blocker so maybe we could have used more of that and ran with Samuel though.

That was obvious pass interference on James Clark near the end of the game. Unadvisable to let the ball hit you in the face mask, but still a ridiculously terrible missed call.

Well, if one arm is being pulled down so you can't extend it you don't have much of a choice where the ball hits you.

Look we can bitch and moan about calls, the offensive line and the lack of separation by receivers all we want.

The bottom line is that the defense had two possessions where they went brain dead and gave up easy TD drives and special teams had two kicks blocked. No blocked kicks and Ohio State wins the game. The defense plays defense for the last minute of the first half (which is a disturbing trend that has happened in a few games this season) and Ohio State wins the game.

It's all disappointing but certainly not something that is going to ruin my weekend.

What was TOP for each team?
Ohio State dominated 37:19 to 22:41. Crazy stuff.

Now that I've had time to calm down, I realize that this loss isn't a HUGE deal in the grand scheme of things. Win out and the Buckeyes are in the playoffs. They've absolutely got to get the offense fixed. Have to. Defense needs to keep doing what it's doing. Special teams needs to get cleaned up in a big way. 10 points attributed directly to them.

Whelp, my son got tickets for Kings Island's "Halloween Haunt" last night and we decided to miss the game and go.

Good thing - I would probably be banned right now.

The offense is a mess right now. I believe it is coaching. Tim Beck simply does not have what it takes. He needs to be upgraded. In previous years when we were still doing the game previews, I wrote the Special Teams section. With that in mind I have to say last nights ST meltdown is the stuff of legend. It was extremely Cleveland Brownesque. I cannot fathom how one unit could completely fail in its mission - fail in its entirety. If they would have simply done their jobs the Buckeyes would have had 1 more PAT, 3 more pts with the FG and Penn State would have had 7 less pts from the return. That spells a 25-17 win for the good guys. But instead we hand a gift-wrapped win to the most horrible group of human beings in major college football. BN27 is right - they will gloat about this for decades. Hard to swallow (and I don't mean what the Pedsters enabled)

Just disgusting.

The blocked FG is entirely on the coaches. You can't rush the FG unit out with 10 seconds left on the play clock and be surprised when it doesn't work. Use the TO to make sure you put up points.
As I mentioned above, I didn't see the game, but they had a time out with 10 seconds left and chose to hurry it instead of calling it. John L. Smith school of FG unit coaching there.

This ain't on the kids. It's on the coaches. JT threw 43 passes! He was sacked six times, so that's 49 pass attempts from a RUNNING team that was in control for 47 minutes! Curtis Samuel had two (two!) rushing attempts!

There is no balance, there is no continuity, there is no rhyme, there is no reason.

I really should stop reading and replying. It's MSU last year all over again. Urban is placing way too much trust in his assistants, and there's no oversight or overview.

Ditch the scrublord OC. Get A REAL OC. Get your OL coach out of the booth. Let him actually coach his unit. Get a new WR coach. Get a new QB coach.

When UFM first came to Columbus, he said that his goal was to have the best staff on the country. He doesn't. Not even close. Tim Beck is making 750k. He ain't worth 34k. And his ineptitude is multiplied by the fact that Warriner is in the booth, where he can't even coach his unit up.

Ditch Zack Smith as well. Other than '14, that unit has been the same clown show that it's been since '12.

This team has not attacked since the Oklahoma game. It's disgusting.

That's what absolutely blows my mind. They attacked the OU D (I know they're nothing special) with a semblance of a vertical passing game. That disappeared shortly afterwards for a more conservative approach. Not sure what happened but it sure as hell is concerning.

Should have called a TO before that field goal try. Not a reason in the world to rush that.

These X 1,000.

Season long attempt on the road late in the 4th Q and you have not one but two timeouts.

C'MON MAN!!?!?!!?!!?!
