SAN ANTONIO ? Thad Matta left Xavier to coach Ohio State three seasons ago for more money, Big Ten Conference affiliation and a better chance to reach the Final Four.
He immediately got the first two items when he took the OSU job in 2004, and now Matta has got his Final Four trip, too.
Ohio State defeated Memphis 92-76 in the NCAA South regional championship here at the Alamodome Saturday, finally giving Matta, 39, that Final Four berth that he so narrowly missed in his last season at Xavier.

What a game. I was flying home from NYC to Atlanta when it tipped off, but got it on the radio for the two hour drive home from the airport. We started to lose the Atlanta station so we stopped in a rest area and there were about 4 other cars of people doing the same thing. When it was clear they were going to win someone called out an OH from their car and got a chorus of IO's. Buckeye nation is everywhere!
