Ohio State 92, Memphis 76 (Final)

I'm really proud of this team. They've grown up a lot. I still remember the first time Greg came out on the court and his first points. It's crazy they're now in the final four.

Someone pointed out that they could avenge every loss they had this season. It would cap off a magical run.

Great win today! This team is building up a head of steam heading into the final 4. They are playing with confidence, and a sense of swagger. How ironic would it be if they matched up against UNC and beat them, and beat Florida in the finals, avenging their only losses of the season (along with Wisky)? I'd be down with that. :wink2:

Amazing game. I like Xavier and Tennessee games, but I had more fun watching this game mainly because it was more relaxing watching the blowout.

Bye bye, Dorsey. LOL at 0 points after talking smack.

Memphis played well, although I really do not understand Calapari's coaching in that game. Leaving those many guys in with 4 fouls to me was nuts. Matta really out-coached him. I could not undestand leaving Oden on the bench that long in the second half with just the 3 fouls, but it was genius. When he brought Oden back in he was that much more effective and fresh and the guys with foul trouble either fouled out or were ineffective and GO was able to help put this game away. Dorsey with 0 points and fouling out was priceless.

:oh:

Awesome game Buckeyes!!!! Definitely the best end-to-end game they've put together all year!

I loved the free throw shooting at the end of the game... the last 18 points for OSU were all from free throws... from 18 attempts! CLUTCH!

until the 3:47 point in the second half when ohio state was up 74-66, the bucks had made 8 second half free throws (10 attempts) to the tigers' 5 (8 attempts). also to the mark of 3:47, each team had been called for 7 fouls. from that point on, memphis attempted 10 more shots, with 6 of those being 3-point shots and one more being a 2-point jumper. on the other hand, ohio state didn't attempt a single jumper with 3:47 left. because they drove to the bucket for each shot attempt, they forced memphis to foul and they solidified the win by making all 18 free throw attempts in the final 4 minutes.

so, if anyone brings up the free throw disparity (21 attempts), this is the reason why. just like with tennessee, you don't get to the charity stripe by throwing up a bunch of 3-pointers. by the way, each team made 9 free throws in the first half. it really was the last 4 minutes that decided the difference in free throw shooting. being down 8 with under 4 minutes to go, memphis was forced to foul. they did. ohio state capitalized. end of story.

Oden shows Dorsey the door -- and it doesn't lead to Atlanta

SAN ANTONIO -- Turns out Joey Dorsey wasn't David. He wasn't Goliath. Hell, he wasn't even Jake Voskuhl.
One day after verbally flicking Ohio State center Greg Oden in the nose, Dorsey backed up his big talk with zero points, zero blocks and three rebounds in Memphis' 92-76 loss to the Buckeyes in the South Regional title game.
When Dorsey got those three rebounds, I have no idea. When he was on the court for the 19 minutes credited to him, I couldn't say.

Joey Dorsey isn't thrilled after the game, but he patiently waits for the media blitz.

(AP)
About the only time I noticed Dorsey was before the game, before the opening tap, when he was the last Memphis player onto the court and tried to avoid eye contact with Oden, who pressed the issue by stepping into Dorsey's path and holding out a fist to pound.

The first of many things to be written about Dorsey's comments...

CNNSI.com

Joey Dorsey got owned. As a journalist, I love it when guys decide to talk some smack before a big game, so I'm never going to hope everyone spews the same boring boilerplate nonsense. But seriously, what was Memphis' Dorsey thinking when he woke up Friday? I'm going to call out Greg Oden and proclaim myself Goliath to his David. (Whatever that means.) Bad move, Joey. Oden's line: 17 points, nine rebounds, one block. Your line: zero points, three rebounds and four fouls in 19 minutes. Remember, Joey: Goliath died.
Just remember Dorsey, if you can dish it out, you better be able to take it!
