Ohio State 69 Tennessee 74 (FINAL)

LBJ? who's that?
Think back to the game where Butler had a DD but scored no points. Who scored most of the points in that game? The new guys did 3 -1 over the older ones. In that game the noob's were highly involved and reacted to their roles and performed as we have hoped they would ever since the first game.

Great example...Now just imagine him getting around a triple double state wise...I understand the 10 rebounds won't happen a lot for him, but he could easily go double double or close to every night with points and assists, and I would put money on us in any game that I knew that Butler was going to have a double double...

And we can afford to have Butler go scoreless against NW. Heck, until I found out he was sick, I was working under the assumption that Matta had told Butler NOT to shoot. But what I'll not is that it ended up a fairly close game against an inferior opponent.

I'm fine with Butler stepping back and forcing other guys to make the play, but my concern with that tactic is that it may cost the team too many games right now, and while the team may be better off at the end of the season, they'll be showing it off in the NIT, rather than the tourney.

Thad and the Bucks will take care of Pearl and the Vols.

OSU 64
TENN 55
If OSU holds Tenn to 55 points that would be absolutely amazing... I hope you're right.

My biggest concern is "SEC Speed"... after watching the Tennessee game last night their D is very quick and very deep. Butler is going to need help bring the ball up the court because he'll tire out if he is the only one beating their full-court press all night. And the freshman, especially Turner and Diebler, need to take care of the ball.

Lighty, too.

They abused us with the press in the first meeting last year. After a handful of turnovers just trying to get the ball inbounded, Matta brought Oden back to help. Hopefully, it doesn't take a string of turnovers to get a big man back there this year. :p

I think the only thing we would have going for us is if Tennessee would clean Vandy's clock on Thursday. Then maybe they would get overconfident but then again both are home games.

Part 1 above happened. Now we just need them to get overconfident.

We need to execute very well. I don't see Pearl calling off the dogs if they get up by a bunch. Great game to have for the learning of the kids and the RPI... :oh:
Agreed on both accounts... with UT's style of play they'll keep running up and down the court. Hopefully they don't get up by a bunch though.

Good points by all three and we need to balance one against the other IMO to get the best out of each player.

I just hope our posters in the game thread keep their eyes fixed on exactly which Buckeye team takes the floor. I often think that they expect Oden, Conley, and the guys to play and negativity in the game thread is a bummer for those of us who follow from afar.

The computers aren't giving us any real chance to win this. According to Pomeroy, Tennessee currently is #1 in RPI. We're #24. They're #10 in his power ratings; we're #27. He's projecting Tennessee to win 75-66. Sagarin has Tennessee at #8 and Ohio State at #25 on his most accurate Predictor rating. He also has Tennessee winning by 9 points.

I'm not saying that we don't have to play the game because the computers have decided it, but I am saying that we need to remember that this is a rebuilding year and we have a lot of youngsters in there.

It would be really cool if these young Buckeyes pulled off an upset.

You were just sitting on that one weren't you:biggrin: Now that we have them "overconfident" all we have to do is probably play our best game of the season. We really need KK to show up in addition to everything else that has been said.

Yes it is a rebuilding year and we have to depend on our team to win and when they don't well, thats rebuilding. We all want them to win every game but at the same time we know that may, or won't happen. The good news is that as bad as they play sometimes they can play 360% and beat a Tennessee. Steve is right, that would be really cool.
