Game Thread Ohio State 43, Youngstown St. 0 (Aug. 30)

"It's a little bit of a foot issue...from what I hear, he'll be good."

Jim Tressel, post game interview, speaking of Beanie. :)

I didn't see the game but watched the stats. I was really impressed with the defense. YSU is not USC but this was a real shutout. They only finally got past 30 yards total offense against the 3's in the final moments and, even then, not above 60 or so yards total offense.

The kicking game sounds like it was "lights out".

I did see Pryor's touchdown and I was delighted to see people using the words "Rex Kern" about his ball handling skills.

I forget who called this an NFL preseason game, but that sticks in my mind. It's quite exciting to think about what might be on the way!

And, LV's right, let's get excited about the Silver Bullets shutout.

The way you guys described him going down, I thought perhaps he broke a toe or ripped a ligament in his foot when his foot caught in the turf. Then, it sounded like maybe an Achilles tear from what you described.

It's really hard hard to believe that he was standing on the sideline as you guys describe, if he had a complete tendon rupture. After all, his calf and heel would no longer be connected and he would have real trouble moving forward off his toes. Wouldn't he be iced to cut the swelling.

If Heisman's information is correct, then it could be a more minor injury to the Achilles but not a rupture. Then, that doesn't match the description of how he went down.

So, I guess I am very confused.

It may not have happened on that last play. It may have happened on the play before (his second longest run of the game iirc). Buckeyes Rock said something about Beanie not looking right after he got up. UTGrad (I think) said it was his Jim Brown impersonation.

In any case... I can understand people thinking the worst. It's happened before and we're understandably nervous, given the expectations for this season.

Point is that he slipped and went down without contact. Like I said, maybe he got dinged up on the previous play, tried to play through it, and as soon as he tried to put weight on his right foot, he went down.

I missed the game due to being at fucking work, but I've been on this thread all day, and on ESPN's gamecast. Almost had a heart attack like all of us, hopefully Beanie turns out to be okay. But we have to look at his future, lets not rush things and ruin his career he has ahead of him.

Also, does anyone plan on making this game into a torrent? As a misser of this game, I'd like to be able to download it and watch it later! Thanks for the constants updates guys! GO BUCKS!

Awesome news about the x-ray!

Sounding more and more like a foot sprain. If so, sit him next week and he may be ready for USC.

Said he could play next week. He's heading to the dr. now. Playing it by ear is what coach said.
must have missed that, did Tressel say he could probably play next week?

The thing about the x-rays being negative is, on the good side- at least nothing is broken, on the other hand- that means a muscle or ligament injury, which can sometimes be worse than just a bone injury since they can be nagging and linger for a whole season.

Nothing to do now but wait, see, and trust the coaches now.

Nice work by the D today! Loved the effort!
