I'll spark a bit more conversation and am doing so hoping for intelligent game conversation-

Considering the natural aggressiveness of our front seven (as well as our DBs as witnessed in the bites on the gimmick play that ended up poorly thrown), is there even a big play threat on PSUs offense that could burn our D that could keep us from an ultra-aggressive approach and overmanned elaborate blitz packages? I haven't seen enough PSU footage to know for sure, but what I have seen didn't offer such.

I'm thinking if that's the case, the PSU offense will aim (key word) to dink and dunk it's way down the field with flats and crossing patterns as well as screens and intermediate playaction gameplanning. The playaction would probably play off of an early running introduction, but considering the weather and Morelli's struggles, I'm not sure why it won't get ugly early with that sort of pressure potential. Any thoughts?

Well, their true athleticism and talent lies in their WR's. So if you are going for a big play threat, it would be them. However:

1) Jenkins, Washington and Co. can cover their WR's. Hell, they can cover any WR.
2) Generally speaking QB's have to pass in order to get the ball to the WR's, and generally speaking, your QB has to play well in order to give you WR's a chance..... see where I'm going here?

You never know though with college football. Morelli could play the game of his life and get into a groove. They could dink and dunk all night and be successful, and for some inexplicable reason we could refuse to blitz like some bowl game we played in recently. Couple that with giving them great starting field position and our offense stumbling and we could easily be looking at trying to climb out of a hole the entire game.

The one thing that does look clear about this game is, PSU has to do a lot more things right, than OSU has to do wrong. If that makes any sense.

I'm fairly sure Morelli doesn't rememebr playing UM at all last year.

Good point, Lauranitis is a catalyst on our D specifically among the LBs. Just Like Jenkins is among his fellow DBs. I like the cog analogy (sorry if this sounds stilted) but a machine is only as good as the sum of its parts. We have a lot of good parts.

The machine will run with substitute cogs, but it runs smoother when the master cog is in the machine. We need every one contributing for the machine to run at peak levels.

But just like the situation with Wilson, our depth allowed Heyward to step in and be impactful. Sometimes, the machine is refitted with a few new parts making it a hybrid machine with a mission and a fresh attitude.

I think the more Morelli tries his dink and dunk down the field, the more opportunities we have to intercept and score. Their running game will be sluggish, their only hope is passing and we know what he will face in this area. So how will they score? FGs from midfield or so. What was the score in the Michigan -PSU game? 14 - 9 (3 FGs). I rest my case.

PSU will aim to have Morelli work a lot of sideline routes, Morelli's "strength". Deep outs, sideline fades etc...Take that way and make him work the middle against some of your zone coverages and it's over. Unleash Vern and Morelli will be having nightmares

I agree. Branch and Woodley were all-timers. I'm guessing you were at a loss for words on 11/18 and during the Rose Bowl in much the same way we were on 11/18 and during the MNC game. :)

I hope that game goes in a similar fashion to this weekend's game. I don't think we have to score early and often to get the crowd out of it, really. Just a few big hits on Morelli, getting him scared, should shut them up very quickly.
