Game Thread Ohio State 33, Washington 14 (Final)

The stats don't tell the whole story. Their starting QB got hurt and they went into the tank at the seasons end.
Does that make them a horrible team?
Or one that had bad luck and went into the tank?
They play Boise State the week before us. If Boise rips them a new one they may well tank.
If they win or even play well, they will be scary.

You honestly think all that sucking they did for an entire season, not just half, was due in sum total to a QB getting hurt? The lousy pass defense, the weak run defense, all because a QB got hurt? The guy who replaced him is still starting this year and the injured guy is his backup. Doesn't sound like they lost Marino or anything to me.

As far as the Boise thing goes I don't see how its relevant. Boise isn't the same team that won the Fiesta Bowl last year, who knows how good they may or may not be. Let alone trying to divine the psychological impact of the games outcome on UW. Thats pure speculation, I prefer to deal in as much factual information as I can.

Who are the playmakers that will beat us, Taos? Oregon State's version of 1460 thinks they are sorely lacking in that dept, and will be a walk in the park.

And why were they picked to finish 9th in the Pac 10 if they are capable of 'scary'?

Prognostications mean jack but you are 100% correct. That team doesn't seem to have the athletes to even approach "scary" status to anyone but their fans in 07.

Anyone who says that there's nothing special about our secondary other than possibly Jenkins, either doesn't know football, isnt paying attention or is flat out lying to themselves. The only highly proven commodity might be Jenkins but I'll put our safeties up against anyone's even USC or Rutgers. The other corner position will be manned by a budding star by game 3, which coincidentally is the UW game. Game over. At least we'll get to see what the young guys are going to bring to the table and maybe what kind of rhythm our QB's can get into.

UW hoping team reaps benefits of adding chocolate milk to menu

SEATTLE -- After another exhausting practice, Washington football players trudge to the edge of the Husky Stadium turf where coolers brim with refreshing drinks.
Of course, water and Gatorade are there, along one that appears out of place on a football field -- filled with chocolate milk.
"It tastes good to me and, hey, if it's nutritious and helps my body, I'm all for it," wide receiver Cody Ellis said.
The Huskies are experimenting with a new form of nutritional replacement following practices. Along with giving the usual water and sports drinks to rehydrate and replenish during grueling preseason practices, Washington's football staff is requiring its players to drink a small carton of fat-free chocolate milk.
And no, Oreos are not included.

Huskies CB Murchison out of jail after turning himself in

SEATTLE -- Washington cornerback Jordan Murchison was released from county jail early Thursday on $10,000 bail after turning himself in for failing to appear in court on a felony assault charge.

He will remain away from practice and all team activities indefinitely, Washington coach Tyrone Willingham said.

"We will make the appropriate decisions when we have all of the information," said Willingham, 11 hours after Murchison was released.

When asked how long Murchison, a fifth-year senior, would be away from the Huskies, Willingham said: "Don't know. So you could put indefinite, if you prefer that term.

"He will do nothing with the team at this time."

Cont'd ...

Husky weak secondary gets weaker.

I wonder if the coaches will let our boys light em up?
Or will they be happy to just try and grind meat?
I want to see us attack their weakness with Todd heaving the pig.
But will it happen?

Boise game could tell us how good or bad their secondary is.

This game is a nothing to sweat over. Bucks win comfortably. The score might be closer than it should be, but only because JT calls off the dogs too early. This is exactly the kind of team we should be scheduling for early season tuneups.

This game was SO not scheduled as an "early season tuneup". This game was scheduled many years ago when Washington was a power on the national stage. This was seen as a major inter-sectional clash of two big-time programs. It didn't work out that way.
